Daylily - Joy of Life Sdlg

From a seed started in January. The pod parent was Joy of Life, but it wasn't clear who the pollen parent was or if it was a self-cross. Doubles are fussy about being a double, so I am lucky the very first flower is one.

No picture on Tinkers but did find one, very pretty, noticed one of the parents is one I bought recently Jerry Pate Williams :-)

My JPW is on page 2 of my photos - a more intense coral than the soft melon most photos have. It could be the type of soil I have. Only 1 more new plant with a scape that I am waiting for - Soldier of Fortune, then it will be pretty much over for the year. 8>)

See what you mean your JPW is much darker than I expected,I still have several with scapes but the flowers aren't opening fully now so think thats it till next year, do have an iris with a flower bud though!!! wonder if that'll open.

It has been a strange autumn - I'm in short sleeve shirts during the day, and it's too warm at night for a fire. If the chestnuts weren't dropping all over the place, I'd think it was September. 8>)

Do you sell the bulbs? I will be interested.

No, I don't have a work permit, so I cann't sell anything. But when my plants are big enough to divide, I give the extras away. This Joy of Life seedling is finally a year old, so it will take a few more years before dividing. I do have some that got 5 divisions in their first year and may be ready in the fall - I have to see what the flowers look like. Try going to:
www.hemerocallis-europe.eu
Select "Links" then "European Daylily Links" and you will find a large list of people who do sell named varieties.
This next year I will be posting a lot photos of crosses from seed I started last year.

Ok. Thank you. I will check that link.

I will keep you in mind when it is time to divide (Kathy, too).

Now I like that one Wylie, love the frilly edges, you are lucky I have a few doubles myself and know they often take a year or two to double.
