Lithodora diffusa 'heavenly blue'

Lithodora diffusa 'heavenly blue' (Lithodora diffusa (Lithodora))

just a close up of one of only 2 flowers on this new plant. Just a filler in for a pot that looked a little bare.

Wow Karen this blue is so beautiful.

I think it looks so pretty because it contrasts so well with its lovely dark green leaves.

Yes Annie, I think this one is finished now also. Only two little flowers on it, but it will be lovely next year and the leaves are lovely too. Yes, I agree, lovely blue avatar!

I hope it's a big pot. I have mine in a pot with a width of 15", and it's still overflowing. Try giving it a boost with some old rusty nails, or anything rusty for that matter, and it will reward with an explosion of flowers next year :)

Ah, right! That's interesting Jason. I've tried to grow this three times up here and never succeeded. It's in a pot about the same size as yours, but with two other alpines and a shrub!...lol....typical! :)

do you need me to send you some rusty nails Karen, Paul has a pot full lol :o) wonder what is in rust to make them grow, wonder if it works on anything else. :o)

it's the iron in the nails, which is more readily taken up when it is in the form of ferrous oxide, ie.rust. ALL acid loving loving plants like a good dose of rust :)
KS63 - I bet you don't get in the bath with several other people, so hoik out the competitors and give it some space to develop. Good practice for all plants.

Ooo Jason I didn't know that - you see you are never too old to learn, thank you.

Now you have some use for all those rusty nails then mum! I'm afraid I don't have any, so I'll just have to keep buying the hydrangea conditioner! :)

Jason...what a funny idea....I don't grow in the bath either! ;)). I'm afraid when it comes to plant crowding I am a lost cause ;) I've hauled a couple out recently and they have had to go the way of the dump. Every year I seem to dig out almost as many as I add in...but that's gardening.....well, it is for me anyway!

Jason.....now there's a thing, we have lots of rusty nails turning up in the garden, but no Lithodora lol
