The strange flowers appear in Winter followed by the large umbrella leaves later.

I've been waiting for it to flower so I can get a photo.
Amy/Kathy: You're welcome to a root, it likes damp conditions - it is invasive though, it grows along the brook and its on my island on the pond. I've got the variegated leaved one too.
