I encourage the wild primroses in my garden. They aren't always yellow, either!

Thanks, Eileen. :-)

It's lovely and I've now learnt something else as I thought that all the wild ones were yellow. Thanks Spritz.

Yes - I've seen the early ones in Minehead, further along the coast. They've been clever there, the daffs come into bloom from December through to April! Lovely to see.

i had a holiday in minehead years ago and was impressed by the council flowers. daffs at christmas are lovely. i like to buy some for the house for the festive season...
we have a local grower Springfields that produce an early one. i had flowers in december a few years running. but they didnt come this year...or last come to think of it....
13 Feb, 2010
I really must get a few early-flowering daffs in the autumn. What a pleasure they are! Yes - Minehead takes a pride in its flowers. :-)))

These really are stunning Spritz.....i was wondering whether to buy some from a G C the other day.......I did resist though...:o(
13 Feb, 2010
Well done! Were they classed as 'native' plants?
13 Feb, 2010
They never fail to bring a bit of colour early on. Very nice.

Oh dear, Wagger - any particular reason? Not good. I've been outside for a couple of hours this afternoon, digging out crocosmias. What a job THAT was! I shall ache tomorrow.

Or maybe Spritz has mine Seaburn as it didnt arrive here :-(
I came home after walking Bonnie this morning and there was a M&S delivery of 50 red roses, I couldnt believe it - on a Sunday! Not for me though, for Miss Saunt not Mrs.
14 Feb, 2010
Hey ho, Dawn ;-))
14 Feb, 2010
I know Louise, maybe next year, lol.
14 Feb, 2010
I got a tiny box of Ferrero Rocher! (not quite the same as those roses, though....)
Definitely 'Hey ho', Louise!.

It was a break in the underground cabling, Spritz and they finally found and repaired it at ten thirty pm. Then yesterday evening at six thirty pm - guess what? It went again!!! Out came all the gear again - pneumatic drills, lights, generator etc and finally back on soon after two am this morning. Do hope that's the last of it.
15 Feb, 2010
Oh, so do I - you poor things! I bet your woodburner was a godsend in all this.
We have a generator as well; as some of our neighbours told us that with overhead powerlines, and the winds we get here, we would get a lot of power cuts. Well - touch wood - we've actually only had one long one in 5 years, all the others have been short or even very short!
15 Feb, 2010
We have a mixture of overhead and underground here - the Burns day storm of 1990 brought a tree down across the overhead lines and the power was off for five days. That was when I first got a generator which was a life-saver, :-) There have been several more of many hours over the years but the most annoying ones are the little two second ones when they switch power over which means resetting all the clocks on microwave, dvd and video recorders etc. These normally totally confuse the central heating programmer which turns off completely so it has to be taken off the wall and reset to factory settings - drives me nuts. I sometimes think those cuts are deliberate. Well, that's two water leaks and two power cuts - when is the gas going to be cut? LOL
15 Feb, 2010
We get those ones that last for a second - and yes, they're soooooo annoying! Sometimes several in a day! We just get round and reset everything - them bang! it's gone again. Grrrrrrrrr.r......r....r....r....
Hahaha - we haven't got gas here - none in the village. I don't even know where the nearest gas main is....seriously, I hope not, for your sake. We almost ran out of oil in January - we had to wait three weeks with our fingers crossed! (Not easy to do much like that! lol)
15 Feb, 2010
A close-run thing, then! LOL.
15 Feb, 2010
I didn't like getting so low - but we had the logburners going - both of them, and the oil came on a Sunday!!! He was trying to catch up.
15 Feb, 2010
No mains gas here either Spritz - so we have oil too. Its the rubbish broadband that frustrates me though.
15 Feb, 2010
Ours is OK-ish. Sometimes I don't get a signal because of the thick walls. I have a 'thingy' plugged into the mains which is supposed to give me my own wi-fi signal! I haven't a clue about it all....LOL.
15 Feb, 2010
Ours wont work wirelessly in certain parts of the house and it often loses its connection. We're about 3 miles away from the nearest telephone exchange - at the end of the line :-((
15 Feb, 2010
I have no idea where our exchange is, Dawn! My lap-top usually goes off when I'm loading photos...just as the green line gets to the end....Grrrr....
15 Feb, 2010
I know that feeling Spritz .... yes, GRRRRR
17 Feb, 2010
:-(((((
17 Feb, 2010
Update on our cuts, Spritz. The electricity cut was not caused by a break but by water- yes, the same water leak!!! It appears the leak in November (twice, remember?) has never been completely fixed and the water has still been leaking - has followed the line of least resistance underground until it met with a bad junction in the electricity. So, although we have no more power cuts at the moment - or floods - there are two big holes in the road, one in our close where the electricity problem lurks and another HUGE one in the main road where the water leak came from. Victor Meldrew springs to mind - but I do believe it! Wonder what will happen next?

I realise its nearly two years since you posted this blog Spritz but I thought you and those who commented on your blog might be interested in some trawling I have been doing on the internet. I bought a primula vulgaris subsp sibthorpii and came across two sites which might interest you.
