Thanks very much for your comments, Johnjoe and Klahanie!

Great news, Simbad!

Have the balloon plant germinated too?
I planted the Astrantia and it has one bud! I hope it won't flower while I'm here!!

I see it grows like a weed there, also. Castor is such a weed tree here. It grows wild everywhere. It pops up in asphalt along the freeways.

It grows into a small tree up to 25ft (7.6m) tall and can live for 15 years.

Delonix1, it's funny (!?) how the same plant grows differently according to the climate. It never grows into a tree in Europe.

I would think in southern Europe it would grow into a little tree, like here in San Diego, CA.

Here's one growing in Balboa Park, which is about 10 years old. It's not really tall only may about 15ft (4.6m) tall and has a much larger spread. You made a comment on this photo a couple of years ago. :>)

Delonix1, thanks for the link!

I think our place is not "southern" enough for it to grow into a tree. Frosts kill it every winter :-(

Yes, it would have to grow in a frost-free climate to become a tree. It's native to tropical Africa.

I Will Look Out For You On EBay.

2 Oct, 2013

Early July, eBay sent me a message as follows:

"You listed castor beans/seeds. Due to their hazardous nature, we have decided not to allow listings for these items. Please do not try and relist this item."

Aaaagggghhhhhhhh
It was terrible blow to me; GUTTED!
I won't be able to sell the seeds any more..
What am I going to do with all these seeds??
