I am thrilled ... three years after I adopted the rose from my late Mother's garden it has produced this wonderful bloom. A very special friend had given it to her in memory of my Father, who loved salmon fishing in his native Scotland.

Thank you, Terratoonie .... this rose is one of my treasures in the garden; distance means I very rarely see our wonderful friend and I can no longer see my parents but I feel very close to all three when I look at it, it brings back warm memories of the shared times and the love that binds us together.

lovely rose and lovely story Xela, would be interested in knowing where your dad went salmon fishing as the area I grew up in was well known for the salmon fishing.

He was a Scot so it had to be Scotland, Sarah. They usually took their annual holiday there so that Father could enjoy fishing. In latter years they rented a cottage in Grantown on Spey, a beautiful part of the world.

Thanks Xela, next time I have a wee whisky I'll raise a toast to his fishing days! I hope your rose blooms for many years to come, it is beautiful and a real "rose "pink.

Aww, thank you, Sarah. Actually the rose is a truely salmon pink, the camera hasn't done it justice.
