If you break the root, it oozes dark red sap...hence the name.

What a generous suggestion Karen :) I'll be going with friends to Hopley's on Wednesday, who usually have a vast choice. I know they have my favourite Phlox 'Bright Eyes', but if they don't have the Sanguisorba, perhaps I can let you know?? Thanks.
