This tree is so rare there’s very little information about it on the internet. I read it’s hardy down to 40 degrees f. (4.4 c) and it loves water. The fruit can be good and sweet to not so good, depending on individual plant. I hope to be able to get it to fruit in a few years. It actually doesn’t look like a mango tree.

Now, the one that could easily be mistaken as a mango tree is the Maprang (Bouea macrophylla) from Southeast Asia. The leaves are just slightly narrower. I have two. I’ll post some pics soon. You’ll swear it’s a mango tree. 😂

Thanks. It should do very well outside when it’s a little larger. It supposedly grows relatively fast.

Yes, it should grow and do very well here. It’s too small to be outside right now.

I am getting into a lot of fruit trees, I’m so tired of the awful produce in the grocery stores. It’s no wonder why so many people are doing the food forest these days.

I’ve read it’s like most Syzygium species where it produces fruit at around 2 years old.

The new leaves are much larger than any of the old leaves. So, that’s a good sign. It’ll go outside in March. I have very few plants in the house.

Well it must be more than 2 years old by now, so has it started to produce any fruit? I couldn't see any on the picture you uploaded today.

I purchased it 1 1/2 years ago. The stem is still short, but the leaves are huge. I think it may be a few more years before it fruits.

You are right, the leaves do look rather big for such a small plant!

The new leaves are growing even larger than the pic I posted a few days ago. It looks so strange with leaves so much larger than the stem.

This little tree has grown quite a lot since I purchased it on November 10, 2022.
