Bee Rescue

This morning I found a bee looking very sorry for itself on my back door mat. It didn’t respond to being prodded, but I thought “I know what to do, I’ve read about that on GoY!” So off I went to find a sponge and soaked it in some sugar solution.
The bee wasn’t interested at first:
“Go away, I’m ill…”
So I thought I’d try a bigger bit of sponge, with a stronger sugar solution. This proved more successful, you can even see his tongue moving:
He eventually perked up and buzzed off into the garden. I hope he’ll bee ok now :o)

It's worrying that so many gardeners are talking about the number of dead bees that they have seen in their gardens so good for you! I once found a sickly looking bee and was going to put it on a plant with some nectar but as soon as saw the yellow colour it seemed to perk up and flew away! Unfortunately I found it dead the next day - I don't know how/why I thought it was the same bee but I had been close to it so just made the assumption :-) Will remember this tip now. When I saw the small version of the photo thought it was a bee on a blue flower and was going to ask you to ID the flower
:-D

Thanks Marion!
Lol Julie, it's an emergency-bee-refuelling flower :-D I can't remember who wrote about doing this before, but I'm glad they did and that I remembered! I like bees.
