A change of season

Well, hasn’t Autumn made itself known!
Rain, rain, wind and more rain.
Anyway, rather than get depressed by the weather, I have listened to my favourite song (Mr Blue Sky by ELO) several times today, at home and at work, and it inspired me to write a poem with a bit of a gardening theme.
If it proves popular, I will post my “summer” and “winter” poems on here.
(I am still working on one for spring).
Hope you all like it!

Autumn

The west wind blows hard, leaves rain down,
Red and orange, yellow and brown,
A blanket of goodness enriching the soil,
The gardeners reward for a year of toil.

The borders are waiting for one lovely day,
When all of the rubbish is cleared away,
Ready for winter with snow, frost and ice,
Re-growing in spring when the weather is nice.

The lawn needs a spike, a rake, trim and feed,
Repair all the patches, put down some seed,
Clean your equipment and put it to bed,
Spend a full day and clean out the shed.

Autumn is happy, quiet and sad,
The years’ reminder of good times and bad,
A time to reflect, and start planning and buying,
Cos’ winter is coming and you might feel like crying!

A very nice poem to round off the day.
Relaxe in your armchair and dream if you may
Of autumn's warm colours and planning ahead.
Then lock up the house and go up to bed.
