TINY SHOOTS APPEARING

After three days of doing nothing but cooking or washing up I was delighted to see my son and grandson depart for a few hours to watch football. Sophie and I were able to have good look around the garden and I see that a whole lot of tiny shoots have appeared under the hazel. This is my first Christmas/winter here so I look forward to seeing what appears – snowdrops maybe, or might they be crocus? Unfortunately I haven’t yet got the hang of how to transfer the photographs from the digital camera to the computer so can’t show any just yet, but as my favourite present was a large scrap book for garden comments and pictures throughout the year, I shall keep trying.

How wonderful to see the first bulbs coming up in your new garden ! Fun to think of all those flowers having been hidden under the ground, ready to shoot up and surprise you. :o)

I've got snowdrops appearing, grape hyacinths are well up and Ipheion leaves as well. The Narcissi in the containers are all showing small green spikes, too. I haven't checked the crocuses.
Lovely surprises to come, ginellie! You'll have to show us what you have when they flower. By then, I hope you'll have found someone to show you how to upload your photos.

oh yes it is all so exciting - i have been out in the garden over the last couple of days, mulching and tidying up, and i have loads appearing, even one or two early tulips, just starting peak up, i have covered them with a thick mulch though, as it is still a little early, but daffs, crocuses, hyacinths, muscari, allium are fully green, blue bells, snowdrops, there is quite a lot, and i have just added some more lily of the valley. should have a good display, hopefully you will too, it is all the more exciting when you don't know what is there, bit like late christmas pressies really. look forward to seeing your pic's.

whoo whoo! as i remeber you had some really early ones last year Andrew? do you think it is the variety, or conditions, or just your expert skills? although having said that my Forsythia is starting to flower already! - never seen it flower before feb.

They are very early varieties majeek. Last year it was Rijnveld's Early Sensation but since then, I have planted a grass in front of them. This time they are Cedric Morris which is usually the first in flower (although not usually before Jan 1st)

I always get excited when I see bulbs appearing . I have crocuses and Grape hyacinths coming up. No snowdrops yet in my garden. I just hope the ones I planted last yr will have survived.
I hope you learn how to transfer photos soon. It would be interesting to see your spring bulbs.
