Happy New Year

A bit late I know, but Sophie and I just back from the frozen North, only to find that the South is just as frozen. No hot water and no heating, which gave me some idea of how those poor people living on the streets must feel. At least we could get under a big duvet.
Didn’t manage to get to the top of Scafell because the snow was up to my knees. For a while it was firm enough for Sophie to walk on the top, but the higher we got the more powdery it became and it was too hard for her. Nevertheless we got a fair way up and scattered my brother’s ashes around Sprinkling Tarn, a lovely spot.
I forgot my camera so bought two disposable ones and therefore won’t have any photgraphs until they are developed.
Met some lovely people at the hotel, all walkers, and lots of different dogs. It’s the first time I have spent Christmas away from home but would certainly go back – I didn’t miss the shopping queues at all.
New Year’s Eve was spent with a friend I went to infant school with and her family – lovely time was had.
Spent today checking every corner of my garden to see what had changed in my absence. The birds were happy to see me, especially the starlings who were in the bird bath within minutes of my filling it.
A new young fox has also appeared. Totally unafraid of me, and certainly not of Sophie, he or she came right up to the door this morning.
Looking forward to reading all your blogs and looking at the new garden pictures.
G and Sophie xx

Well done, Ginellie - I'm sure you're glad you made the expedition. What a horrid 'welcome-home' present, though. Have you got it all sorted out yet?

We had snow during the night - SO unusual for our area. Our appointments cancelled, roads impassable, so not a nice situation at all!
