Have made an allotment on my patio

Hi everyone, this is my first blog about my patio garden and I would like to share with you my progress and to all us novices try and show you that its not hard to become green fingered.
It was February this year when I first started growning things in pots and planters because being disabled I am unable to dig soil and tend to borders and patches the conventional way.
It started when my wife and I were looking around our garden and she gave me the idea of growing things in planters and pots.
Up to now I have growing, five lots of potatoes growing in sacks, strawberries growing in a large sack planter, peas, onions, beetroot, lettuce, courgettes, peppers, leeks, tomatoes, blackcurrents, savoy cabbage, cauliflower and also some herbs.
I am enjoying every bit of it.

Just goes to show gardening is suitable for almost everyone, no matter what their ability or disability. It's case of get out there and do it.
I'm growing veg in pots due to lack of space at the moment and it's amazing what you can grow.
Only drawback is hubby and grand daughter eating peas & strawberries before there's enough for everyone. Now that's greedy for you.
Keep on digging.

So you've discovered the joy of planting in pots! I would grow all the usual greenhouse culprits, and French beans outside, but the one thing is courgettes. They just do not want to grow for me! They get huge, but they just dont seem to produce many courgettes! Ah, mel!! As long as they grow for somebody, that'll do for me! Good luck with your garden, although it does sound as though your fingers are turning a little green already!

It's lovely to 'meet' a new member and to hear of your success with growing all your veg & fruit. You'll be having a great time getting outdoors in the fresh air, having pots that you can tend without hindrance and especially enjoy your produce :)
Happy pot-tending :)
