Looks like you have been hard at work. I thought my garden that I moved into nearly 2yrs old was bad but looking at your photos, mine was easy. Looking forward to seeing the photos as your garden evolves.

Do you have a plan or are you waiting to see how it develops a bit at a time? Lots of scope there to make it an
interesting space.
What was the tree that has been cut down?

There were about 5 or 6 trees on the back plot and the photo is from a first floor balcony. I do not think anyone had gone into the garden in years.

The front garden was completely overgrown too with ivy all over the house, bushes and 2 trees in the front.

Now it looks like this. I have a rough idea of what I want based on visits to gardens in west bridgford on an arts open day and my visit to Japan. I plan to go with the terracing and work with the hard landscaping thats there already. Plant wise... it depends on what i can get for free.

The garden had ashes and conifers. They were massive but i checked with the council to clear

Glad they agreed - both trees you can do without in a smallish garden!

I counted the treestumps. There was 8 in the back garden. Yes. Totally agree. Too many for a small garden. It means my neighbours are very happy and let me use their green garden bins to get rid of the clearance ivy.
