"Is that all there is?"

I’m like Lily, there just aren’t too many flowers to photograph lately, and you’ve seen my quince (japonica) white and red (side track- I saw a peach one at the nursery the other day). But, having become quite fascinated with the cactus, and starting to plan the “cactus corner,” just look what a friendly person donated to me at a yard sale this weekend…

Yes, that particular pot is too small for this piece of cactus, but not for the smaller ones I need to repot (just planning ahead). I don’t know what this cactus is yet, but I’ll find out. Picked it up on Friday, but just now got it in the pot.

The gentleman who was sharing his enthusiasm assured me that it has the “most gorgeous blooms.” With high anticipation for flowers, for now, it looks very threatening…

Enough rambling… I know that cactus is not all there is, and like you, I’m ready for some fabulous flowers! Cactus or any kind…

Addendum: Thanks Hywel for pointing me in the right direction – if photo and vision serves me well, this just might be opuntia engelmannii var. lingiformis (cow’s tongue prickly pear cactus).
