Those very same trees were probably gasping for a drink this time last year. I bet its a lovely place for a relaxing few mins whilst having a stroll in the summer...

The trees won't drown, granmage! Alongside the river here there are trees that regularly sit in pools of water when the river floods. I know of one particular Hawthorn that sits in a "lake" for weeks on end 2 or 3 times a year. It is a very old tree so has been in that position for the best part of a century, perhaps longer.

In this park, called Riverside Park, there are many old trees from Weeping Willows at the river edge to some very old apple trees whose fruit the ducks eat! There is also a Horse Chestnut tree that sits on the edge of the river just like the Willows & it is a tremendous size.

Your son, Holly, took some very good photos of the park. Like others above I certainly wouldn't want to sit on the bench in the last pic!
