The Guinea Fowl boys arriving for cake - birds on this one Hywel.

This is an addition to my previous blog as I know Hywel doesn’t like birds and I don’t want to catch him unawares.
The GF boys have worked out that OH always gives the peacocks cake before they go up to roost.
They have decided that early evening is a much better time to have cake – they tend to go to bed earlier than the peacocks!
So..They turn up at the back door, cackling away until you go out and give them their share. If you don’t go to the door, they progress round to the front, under the living room window and cackle there!
They prefer Madeira cake and turn their beaks up at light fruit cake, spitting out the fruit or pushing it to one side, so they will be pleased with todays effort .

Here they are wandering off dejected as they thought I wasn’t going to give them any, expressive little beasts!
Excuse the bucket, it’s waiting to go down to the compost heap.

Happier now that they know it’s cake time!

Hope you remind them to brush their "teeth?" afterwards?

Thank you all for reading about my 'boys'. Neither have names as they were part of a little group at one time, but age, road and predators have whittled them down to the two now. They are both little characters and though some people might think they are not the prettiest of birds (and noisy) they are adorable, if scatty. They go out onto the road and then over the farmers field, so do worry that one day they might get mistaken for one of the poor wild birds, and get shot! Luckily we don't get the shoots here much, I have only seen 4 guns (in one go) on the adjacent field in eight years. The Fens are not known for the quantity of pheasants that are usually the prey of the guns. Hopefully they will be about for several more years yet.
They stand on the doorstep like nervous visitors and peer indoors looking for the cake.
