I acquired long,thin garden 10x65m in 2000.I had little say in buying the house,it was decided as soon as my husband saw the golf course at the back of the garden.!!There was very little in the way of flowers or shrubs,no borders and a very smelly pond.I decided to split the garden into sections, expand the borders and include pathways.My husband would compain that every time he came home from work,more and more of the grass was disappearing,he likes mowing,so i have had to leave more grass than i would of prefered.In the last 4 years,i have started to collect mediterranean plants inc palms,oleanders,bottle brush,yucca etc however i am finding it increasingly difficult to overwinter, using every available inside space.Luckily i have a conservatory,but still manage to lose a couple every year.I am opening my garden for the NGS for the 1st time July 2013 and am a bit apprehensive.Ijust hope we have some nice weather and some visitors!!!
