Hi Everyone
What a beautiful day, cold but lovely sunshine up here in the North East. The sun was shining when I got up this morning and it’s still shining now, a perfect Autumn day for working in the garden. Three more photos showing my progress on my pond. Managed to do the pebble beach today I’m pleased with the way it has turned out. Please ignore the house bricks they are temporary until I find some suitable edging. Can’t seem to find anything that catches my eye I,ve been to Builders merchants, DIY stores and garden centres and there’s plenty to choose from but I can’t make my mind up between odd shaped boulders or more formal paving, I’m leaning toward boulders but not sure if they will be to big for the size pond I have.

It's lookin' good Jim, what about moulding cement over the area and inserting a few stones. You could add pebbles to the mix then before it sets hard, brush it to expose the pebbles. You would have to replace the water though.

I like the big boulders mixed with the small pebbles it's coming along really well

Taking shape nicely, Jim. You will want to build up the sides of the waterfall and the sides of the pond to hide the plastic and the pre-formed waterfall. Rocks can be built up to do the job I would think. As Nana d says, boulders with the small pebbles looks really nice.

Have you considered maybe using pieces of slate? possibly around the edges of your pond? You're thinking this through very carefully so I'm sure you'll discover what will suit you perfectly.

Thanks for your comments Whistonlass, Nana d , Heron and everybody. I've had lots of different ideas but haven't decided on one yet. I do like the idea of boulders and pebbles but the pond was my grandkids idea and they will want to get close to the edge when I get some fish so it might be I plump for some flat paving or slate to make it easier for them, like I said earlier I'm still undecided. Freecycle is a good idea I'll check if we have one in our area.
