Pond.

For the first time in 11yrs I,m able to have my pond uncovered occasionally, which means the grandchildren are growing up too fast"sigh".So today I,ve taken off the old safety wire and netting and made a new frame which can be removed easily when and if we want to…
Dont it look nice without all that wire.Below are some of our fish.
Some of these are more than 25yrs old.
I kid you not the new safety frame took a bit of figuring out but needs must and the last photo. is what I came up with.
With cats, dogs and a heron that visits one of my neighbours you can see why we do not leave them unprotected…….

wish mine looked as good as this, it seems to have a hole somewhere water goes down a bit quick, can't face it at the moment, job for later in the year i think, only 2 fish in it long tailed goldfish that my daughter won at a fair, about 8 years old now!

it's a lot nicer without the cover Linclass , the fish are beauties ,would dogs bother the fish?

Malik, who is a flat coat retriever will stand ages looking at the frogs but knows not to go anywhere nearer than edge of back border,he wont even get his toys if they land on it,Morgan ,choc lab.has to be watched because he loves water and is not quite so obedient but is improving, the problem comes from the cats who sit gazing longingly at fish, they always surface as soon as a shadow appears on water thinking its dinnertime and would be an easy target..........

I've got a very small pond at the moment with my 2 fish in, but i'm in the prosess of doing a bigger pond, i always thought fish grew to the size of the pond but my two are too big to stay in the pond they are in, there about 6-7yrs old got the from pet shop, & they were so small small i could'nt see them when i put them in this tiny pond.

Pity you have to cover your lovely pond with that wire. But it must be protected. I never knew fish lived that long.

Another great pond, and yes it does look smashing uncovered. You do have a lot of fish, having only one we have to keep our pond covered all the time as we have lost 7 fish due to cats and a snake! your fish look very healthy.
