A little bit of the garden - Zone5 a

One thing that is a given with succulent gardens, they take time to develop, especially if it also forms part of a collection, where my Aloes and other succulents go. I also get seed for certain mesembs I want, grow them and then plant them in the garden.

These first to pictures is an overview of the area, which is narrow still, I will broaden it out with time, and I use bricks for a temporary border just to help prevent unwanted grow-ins.

Here are the plants in this part in general:

Rhapholipes ‘krusheni’ Indian pink

Polygala fructiosa

Variagated Portulacaria afra

And some of the aloes

Aloe thraskii

Aloe macrosiphon

Aloe plicatrilis

Echeveria’s and Aeoniums

Haworthia attenuata

Orbea variegata

Crassula perfoliata var. perfoliata

and to finish of, a orange Lamprantus and a red Carnation!

My gardens are very much in development, but hope you enjoy this first little peak! LT

Love the look of them, what do you do with them in the winter?

Thanks Lizzie, here in SA, we are just at the back-end of winter! I am lucky, no snow or frost, in fact I rarely water, maybe a few times in summer, if that. This part will start to look filled and better in the next 3 months. LT

It must be nice to grow them outside. You've got an interesting collection.

Thanks, yes natural coastal soil is very sandy, and fatty, so only long term rain goes down, otherwise it runs on top. LT
