Ok I thought Id document the story of work on my front lawn.
It looks at first not too bad from a distance. Close up the grass is patchy and very springy. Full of moss especially at the north end.
I started a week ago with evergreen lawn weed and feed. some moss is already black.
The next was to scarify and remove the moss.
and this is how much came out!

Crikey! Your poor back!
But you must be pleased with the result, it is going to look sooo good this summer.
Will you be spiking the lawn and dressing it with sand to deter the moss from coming back? It would be such a pity if it did.

re picnic blanket. The front gardens not really a good place to sit. Its a bit public You may notice the park opposite, also the road is quite busy.
re the dressing yes before doing it was treated. I do plan on spiking the lawn with my hollow tine doofer and sweeping in best sand/used compost mix. I have already over seeded.
re my back - its not too bad thanks I have an electric scarifier, it therefor only took 4 hours.

Hope your lawn will soon be looking good after all your hard work, I wouldn't be with out my electric scarifier as they do a good job, think I will be getting mine out soon.
Carry on with the Good Work :o))
Oppp's Just noticed this was last year, Oh! Well, How's the lawn this year LOL. Scatty Jackie :o)))))

Strangely I was only out yesterday looking at it. This year it's a bit long. There are some brown blades, however at first glance the doesn't seem to be much moss.
If it doesn't rain or isn't too windy Im going to have a gentle mow. Scarifying later.

Hi LOM - blimey - you are a glutton for punishment with all of that hard work, raking etc
I would just think about how the springy moss would make my picnic rug even more comfortable and decide it was staying! You could make 500 hanging baskets with moss lining as your next task? ;)
