I enjoyed this one too and again i didn’t have to fast forward any of it :-))))
One thing i hadn’t realised was that Erica carnea could be grown on alkaline soils, now i know i’ll get a couple and see what happens here !
Alys was on – she was with a woman i’ve seen on the BBCs Open Gardens programme, she was a county organiser for the NGS (Devon area) and they were walking around her garden which looked lovely.
So now there’s been 2 episodes i’ve enjoyed !

I too enjoyed it last night but half an hour isn't much.

I agree half an hour is not long enough but having said that, if it was much longer I really wouldn't be able to stay awake. Not boredom, just something that has always been so! I did enjoy it though.

Half an hour is better than nothing!!....there are some goodies to look forward to later in the season....with Alan and Carol..:-)
I hadn't realised about Erica carnea either....

Not enough Gardening programmes on T.V.!!!
20 Mar, 2010
i agree with millie there are not enough gardening programmes on T.V. half an hour a week and not even repeated as most other shows are. surely there`s more call for an extra garden program instead of some of the tosh thats on!

Yes Louise I enjoyed it, picked up a couple of tips, they should visit a new garden every week, in the good old days Stephen Lacey used to, there are enough gardens in the country large and small which would be of interest to viewers.......

I enjoyed them on the whole aswell.

a definate improvement this season, if it had been like this all along, I would have enjoyed an hour's viewing

I knew I recognised the face of the NGS lady but couldn't place it - it was on 'P
Open Gardens with Carole Klein. I enjoyed Carole's piece about primulas - reminded me of Seaburngirl's blog about them - pins and thrums!
I agree with you, Daisy about the Stephen Lacey visits - I was watching a piece by him in his own garden last night, about scent. I could almost smell the wonderful perfumes!

I enjoyed this weeks gw, But also wish it was a little longer, too much time on Rhubharb and not enough on flowers to entice Bees and Butterflies

Wagger what program were you watching re Stephen Lacey please?
21 Mar, 2010
It was a mini-series on Gardeners World in about 1997! Sorreeeeee!!!!

;+((((

I watched this programme as well. I particularly remember Carole talking about the sex life of Primulas!
I also find 30 mins far too short & only one programme a week. You'd think that in a nation of gardeners there'd be many gardening programmes! Too many soaps in my opinion & not enough dirty hands from gardening!

I agree with your comments, even my husband spotted the NGS lady from a programme we'd seen a while ago. Seed sowing indoors for me today as there is a fine drizzly rain now. : o )
