My Garden sculptures bargain

The road where I live is planted with ornamental Cherry trees. One of these is right outside the living room window of my Flat with another two on the grass verge further along. The tree in front of my window is quite large and taller than the building and on a dull day keeps the light from the room. There are days when the room is very gloomy and I need to switch on lights but this tree is never dull and is full of life. All kinds of birds visit the tree. Along with a family of grey squirrels, Bluetits, Greenfinch, Blackbirds, Thrush, Jackdaws and Magpies all come to the tree on a daily basis giving me endless entertainment and joy. I love this tree! In the Spring it is awash with large white blooms which brighten up the road.
The other two Cherries bear pink blossom when the white one is just fading. Two years ago, one of the pinks didn’t blossom or leaf and had obviously come to the end of its life. I reported this matter to the council who sent someone to check the tree out and a week later sent someone else to photograph it. The previous year another tree had fallen across the road narrowly missing a passing car and just falling short of a family on their way to school. I felt I was doing my duty by reporting the demise of the tree. Weeks passed and another jobsworth came to carry out an inspection of the tree.
I had first reported it in September 08 and in the following March when nothing had been done, I made an enquiry. Two weeks later, two men came to look at the tree and a week after, came the photographer; surely, something was now going to happen. The weather at the time was very wet and windy with often, strong gales. By September 09 the second pink had died so we now had two trees that needed felling, if only for safety sake.
Well, it’s a very long story and many ‘phone calls later. However, I made one more call last week and was told that there wasn’t the money for the felling of the trees. I mentioned compensation should the trees fall……
Well, what do you know, on Friday of this week, two men with chainsaws and a machine that minces the branches, arrived. In no time at all one tree had been entirely dismembered and was about to have it’s trunk taken down. That was when I saw my opportunity….I needed some interesting sculptures in the garden. I traded cups of tea and biscuits for three lovely lumps of wood which the men carried into the garden for me.
I am absolutely thrilled with them. I don’t quite know where they are eventually going to be placed, but here they are….free sculptures!….and in a way, I still have my lovely Cherry trees.

They look great Macpat ... we were given some by our neighbour when they cut some trees down. The onlty thing I would say is that a year or 2 on they have deteriorated quite a lot & started to rot & fall apart! Maybe you could treat yours with something or keep them protected during the winter?
Lovely to have your trees still with you.

Ooh how lovely...all those tree stumps. I had one given to me a good few years back and I got OH to grind out a hole deep enough to plant something trailing...this worked quite well until it rotted and crumbled away.....

Good idea ... it was probably the rain & damp that spoiled ours. :o(

Still, whatever...it is great for insects... I will just love them for what they are for the time that they are with me.

Cinderella, the piece of tre that you refer to has three branches but are very unevenly spaced...I will see what I can do to use it to effect.
Thank you for your input.

You were thinking ahead with the tea there, Macpat. Lucky find and they look so nice. I especially like the first one...it would make an ideal plant stand.

Well the first one would make a lovely Pot Stand, and the last one too if you could get someone to make those two arms level, or is it three arms ? then maybe you could lodge something between them, with a trailing plant.
