Food for thought

It is a cold and wet day so I have been looking for a good book to read. I have chosen Erica James novel Gardens of Delight. I found her books to very good especially if you like Lake Como!
She quotes the following which I find very apt.
A garden is a delight to the eye,and a solace to the soil;
it soothes angry passions,
and produces that pleasure which is a Paradise.
Sa’Di (1184 – 1291 )

I enjoyed looking over the plants from your country and your sense of humor which shines through. Thank you for a nice blog.

I certainly love Lake Como ; my "muse" has recently got himself married ( only joking , I wish them all the best of luck ), but I will look out for this author .
I like stories that tell of happy , sunny places . I enjoy especially to read about the experiences of people that move and live in other countries .

That line should surely be ' solace to the soul ' .

I guess it should but I rather like the idea of solace to the soil - having a bit of a rest after a productive summer!

For pure escapism I reach for Nora Roberts. ....not her mills & boon type but the novels.....them and chocolate and I'll hibernate until spring.....?

I agree with that quote. It is so true :)

Hello Diane
I have checked the quotation and it is the soil but I agree that it could also be the soul !
