Hi all just a quick guide to show how to help root bound plants before planting:))))
Fork around the main root ball to help release the roots that are tangled and to get rid of some of the soil.:)))
All ready for planting with a new lease of life:)))

Good idea - would never have thought of using an ordinary fork. I usually struggle rather unsuccessfully with my fingers. Fork it is from now on!

Sometimes the plants we buy are so potbound I don't know how they survive. Thanks for the tip Mark :o)

I generally use my fingertips, rubbing the dirt off and picking the root ends out; I think there's enough capacity for damage without any implements!
But something is needed; I'm going through repotting all my plants, and it's surprising how many of them are rootbound - not from me! I take off the pot they were bought in, and the outer ring of soil falls away easily, because the roots are still conforming to the size of the smaller pot they were in before they were potted up for sale.
