I am delighted to say I've also got flowers on mine, just proves patience is a virtue, also tips from goy members helped as well.....

Lovely flowers on your Cacti, Mark ... my Mum has a shocking pink one on her bathroom windowsill ... it thrives on neglect ... lol!

Beautiful Mark. They really do cheer up winter days don't they?

They are Christmas cacti, at least we call them like that. They will bloom to you each year around this time. :) It is good you put them on the window.

I've never been able to get them to flower - even when I was given one in flower, i could never get it to flower next time. Congrats on yours, maybe you could do a "how-tp" or "what I did" to help us!

FRan, try giving it a dry period from late summer to late autumn. Keep it in a place where it gets natural daylight (and natural darkness) and not in strong sunlight. You can fed it up in spring and early summer if you want to. When you start to water again the flower buds should appear quite quickly, and then you mustn't turn the plant round or the buds will probably drop off.
Be interesting to hear if this is what Mark does. Some people get them to flower without the dry period.

thanks daer! A GoYer very kindly sent me a cutting a few months ago; I've got it in a tiny pot on the bathroom windowsill, (as there's no shelves anywhere yet to put it on) with my Dragon Tree and baby Spider; frosted glass should reduce sun-glare (ha, if we get any sun this time of year!) - that's about as draught-free as I can manage. At least it's still alive, which is something!
