Expect you are all indulging in Chelsea this week inbetween a little gardening….and how lovely to have the Rich brothers presenting too.
How many of you liked Chris Beardshaw’s garden? His was the best for me….how about you? I do enjoy him on Beechgrove.
What a wonderful tribute to David Austin this year. The roses were to die for.Could almost smell the fragrance via the TV.

I liked the garden with the weeds. Yes! I'm on trend at last😄

Chris Beardshaw..definitely. He always creates a ‘proper’ garden. He doesn’t get too ‘clever’ and his planting is beyond beautiful. This years is his best ever I think.

I agree with you all, it’s been really good this year!
Chris is very good on the Beechgrove garden, been watching the programme since I was a child in the 70s.

I liked the garden with weeds and a tractor (?) in a shed ! I find most of the other gardens look too stiff for me, although Chris Beardshaw's wasn't too bad.

Chris Beardshaw is my favourite gardener.
It is great having him on Beechgrove. He was added to the team for our new English viewers. They thought you might not understand the Scottish accents.
Like you Kate I have been watching Beechgrove since the 70s. It helps to see the planting calendar here in Scotland as everything is much later.
My favourite garden at Chelsea is the Yorkshire Garden and then Chris Beardshaw's.

Well I like Chris Beardshaw's gardens, I often feel they are rather overplanted. I'm not sure if its the camera angle, but that spherical sculpture in this year's garden keeps annoying me

We have been watching avidly, and Chris Beardshaw's is our favourite too.......it's good to see some of the younger presenters too!! good coverage this year, although my OH thought there was rather a lot of green!!!!!

Green is 'in' this year apparently. So my green-flowered rosa x osorata 'Viridiflora' is ahead of the trend as I have been growing it for nearly ten years now

Linda - I find the Beechgrove garden much better than Gardener's World. Although, I do like Monty!
I loved Chris's pond he did on Beechgrove and the associated planting!

You’re right Julia, I think you can learn more from Beechgrove.

For someone on a limited budget with a small garden Beechgrove is just more relatable & modest. Hope they don't change it too much to get a wider audience

Agree Darren!

Beechgrove has a less sophisticated feel to it but that is part of its charm. Like you, Meadowland, I like Monty too.
I like people who talk about the plants and not all this architectural stuff.

I like watching Chelsea, but find it's doesn't relate to the 'normal' garden very much. Also, I know it's all for effect, but when they plant things that would never be seen in flower at the same time and things that need different conditions together, it's slightly annoying. Lots of the structures this year I wouldn't want for love nor money and talking about money - how much do they all cost!
I know the environment is 'on trend' (if I hear one more person say that I might scream), but really we are being treated to an idealised view of the countryside and not a garden. Lovely as they are.

Chelsea is about 'ideas'. You get to see new plants, combinations of colours, the latest trends (if you want to follow them)

He is my favourite Chris Beardshaw too from TV he use to do. He added me as a favourite friend which I felt privaliged when I was on his site ran by himself with the Welsh radio gardener it was called Gardeners Click which now has closed down. His own garden is stunning.
25 May, 2019
So did I wonder what his own garden was like when he had his own program years ago.

We are not 'on trend 😱' this year, the garden is full of colour!! loads of it, ........(ʘᴗʘ✿)(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)(✷‿✷) and we don't care...(✿ ♡‿♡)
27 May, 2019
DD - if you wait long enough, colour will come back in and you'll be on trend again :-)

That's so true Andrew.....(ʘᴗʘ✿)

True, you wonder if TV gardeners are too busy doing other peoples gardens.

I agree with you about Chris Beardshaw's garden being my favourite too, as the week has gone on, but to begin with I liked the Yorkshire lock scene very much.
The David Austin roses were so gorgeous and I want a garden full of them now!!! If only!!!
I have enjoyed all the programmes this year as they seem to have moved back onto planting at Chelsea and away from concrete structures thank goodness!!
