A Very watery walk this morning.

Mother nature flexing her muscles with all the rain. You can certainly see how fast that water is flowing. Didn't think more snow was forecast :(

The neighbours have had their Copper beech done in a similar style. its a shame really but it has been done sympathetically.

"The rain it raineth every day". And so it goes on. Lucky you being higher up. Our previous home was positioned in a similar situation. We were in an area of natural springs and it often flowed in the same way, bringing lots of muck and mud with it. More snow promised here, too. Perhaps we could try building an Ark?? :-(
Birches have a lovely natural shape. I expect it will recover. We did the same to ours and it's fought back by doubling its width in 2 years. Now it's a real pain and may have to come down soon. I worry when we have high winds as it's on the boundary of 4 gardens. Builder planting again!

It’s a worry Julia. When we lived in Gloucestershire we were half a mile from the Severn, and once the river burst its banks. We had a canoe in the garden so I took it out and paddled down the lane (we have the photo!). Luckily the cottage was safely on slightly higher ground.

But I always feel great sympathy for anyone who has to cope with flood water in the house ... awful.

It is a very soggy world out there at the moment. I did notice some lovely blue sky in your last photo.
Needless to say all the potholes have opened up round us!!

What a shame to the silver birch like that when it could be so beautiful. Lets hope it makes a good recovery. It's good to hear you live above the flood line- its the sort of weather that makes you glad you live on a hill, even a small one...

Yes that can be a pain. We had a lot of our cherry tree cut back a couple of years ago but at least the Telecom people did it so no hassle for us.
