Me too, Julia. I had the same email. I'm guessing we'll all get one.
I'm sticking with GoY as well as joining the others.

Thanks for this Julia, I intend to stay with Goy too,unless we are informed otherwise. I will probably join one of the others,if all else fails, but at least Dave has been able to explain the reasons why,which seems more positive,and lets not forget he is not a technician as such, so we can take some comfort that he is trying his best to find someone who can,and has the time,if they are busy doing their jobs elsewhere..
All I'm concerned about, if it does close,do you know is there anyway I could save certain blogs I would like to keep ? some are quite special . The photo's are immaterial as I still have those . x

I have found it incredibly difficult to resize photos since my iMac ground to a halt and that’s why I moved over to the dark side!!!….. would love to see you on Instagram….Dawn and Scottish Karen are there it’s so much easier…… if you have a smart phone …it’s so simple……I like to keep my GOY account open…but find it has not improved since I first joined in 2009…..sad but true…

Thank you Julia, I don't have a smart phone,and don't know what 'drive 'is, All I use is my laptop,but I would be able to email them to myself ,and save as a PDF..which I do know what to do ! lol That is really helpful .. I am on F/Book,and a local Gardening website,but not any of the others,like 'Instagram' etc, As you can tell,I haven't moved on much,with today's 'techy' stuff much,but it suits my needs.. simple,and uncomplicated ! :o) x

I am on Facebook but I don’t like it very much…… I am part of a large gardening group on Instagram… from all over the world…… we have Alan Titchmarsh…Monty Don….. Carol Klein ….. you follow who you want to…..no pressure..and you can direct message people…… and watch live videos….I use my iPad and my phone…it’s great fun….all ages…. Dawn was only saying it’s a pity more GOY members have not joined! Please give it a try….

Angela, I use Facebook,mainly to contact friends and Family, via Messenger ,and see their posts,and photo's..I don't have an Ipad, and my phone is only a cheap 'Pay as you go' ,.....Also a few of us who are on Goy ,do keep in touch via emails ,as well,on a regular basis :o) At the moment ,as much as I would like to keep in touch with other Goy members,we have known over the years, I feel at the moment this is enough for me,but I won't ever say.never .:o) x

Angela, that does sound tempting. I do follow Karen on Instagram but hadn’t realised that there is actually a gardening group. I will have a look … thank you 🙂. I'm like Bloomer, and just have an old fashioned phone, which also suits me.

The trouble is I am hopeless at negotiating websites - please could you possibly tell us how to find the gardening group on Instagram (I've just been on and am stumped!).

The other sites are different to GoY and can be enjoyed for their own sakes. I don't think it is necessary to stick to just GoY.
I won't leave GoY but I'm also glad I joined the other two sites I belong to, because I have friends there too.
In fact GoY seems a bit primitive after being on Gardeners Corner.

Hopefully I will get a reply too Julia! I am like Bloomer, and only have a basic pay as you go phone , but will try what you said, although I don't know what a PDF is!

I also received my response to which I have replied and you know I will never leave Goy, I've been on FB for years as some of you know as we are already in touch, however I myself rarely post on the home pages, I still prefer to be in a group, it was a lifeline to me years back when I couldn't access goy and found some of my gardening friends already there.. I follow Karen's blogs via that route.
I've never used Instagram at all and no absolutely nothing about it or how to use it, I would be like Sheila, lol...
I used to see Dawn on Gardening UK but not seen her for quite some time so perhaps I'll try and navigate it, at the moment I'm concentrating on learning my way around the ones Hywel recommended, my brain is like my body , its fraying around the edges..
Julia I've also been worried about losing my blogs, tried many times over the years to copy them but all I've ever managed to do is save the header page, I could never actually copy the blog itself, so now I will try again, thankyou for that info, if I disappear for a while you'll know I've succeeded and that I'm busy, there are so many years worth to try and rescue....

Well Rose and Chris, of course it isn't the same as GoY , What did you expect ?
There's much more on it than GoY so it's bound to seem more complicated at first, but it's like everything else in life, 'Practice makes perfect'
Maybe you give in too easily.

I don't look at all of it anyway, I just stick to a few threads that interest me most.

Wow! You have done well Sue! ( Lincs.) I will have a go trying to get my pictures via my email when I have more time! Busy finishing off the new pond area at the moment!

That's good Rose, you'll get used to it in time and enjoy it. There's a lot on it but I just follow the threads I find most interesting (like cacti lol) and forget the rest.
I must say though it took a long time before I got used to it, but what kept me going was my stubbornness :D

I've got all my photos on my computer so it doesn't matter if I lost them from GoY, and I don't mind about the blogs,

Julia, I went to the top right corner on one of my blogs and there are no symbols there! I have a chrome book which is similar to a lap top. I don't know how to put them in my " drive" either!

Just found it on the bottom of the page! Not sure what to click on though! Would it be down load? I am totally useless !!

Rose I don't know much about Chrome books,mine is an Acer Aspire Laptop, probably they work the same way, I'm useless at teccie things, however they probably work the same way.... I'm opening my blogs, right clicking, which opens the little box with all the options, scrolling down to where it says "save as" and hey presto my blogs are safe in their own files, double checked obviously to make sure it worked, I've already reached 2013...All thanks to M'land....

Some interesting and helpful comments .and as I said earlier ,I had managed to save a blog ,as a test ',and thought I had cracked it,so I was quite disillusioned this evening when I clicked on it to make sure, to see a message.'This file can't be found,try again ''! I obviously didn't do it correctly,but I did actually read it after I'd 'saved 'it this morning ..honestly !! lol ,I think I might go and lie down in a darkened room now,or join the others who are struggling like me !!
At least,I won't be on my own :o) x

Sandra I've reached 2013 already, it was ever so emotional, so many members who we used to have some really good times with that sadly have passed on, others that we aren't sure about, its my memories an I need them, its M'land who we have to thank, I wouldn't have been able to figure it out on my own........

Oh dear, Rose,and I think I've found mine ! what are we like ?? lol .I think I've found an easier way to resize my photo's too,but by mistake,so I'm not banking on it..ha ha .I'll see if it works later :o) x

I shall keep my account on GOY open and pop in to see you all I would hate to lose touch with you lovely people….I don’t want to save any blogs …too emotional and all my photos are on a hard drive….should I ever need one.
Sheila there isn’t an actual gardening group…. We just follow people who are potty about gardening…..Rosieposieirving for instance is on there from the TV shows Love Your Garden and Garden makeover…. she is lovely she does a live from her kitchen every Saturday with her husband Michael Marriott famous rosarian ( used to work for David Austin Roses) and it’s so funny…..it’s great fun.and rewarding I have won roses….boxes of chocolates……etc.

Oh dear I feel very sad about all this. My memory is beginning to let me down and i dread having to learn a new site. I haven't decided whether to just give it up as a bad job but wold feel quite lost without you all.

I agree,stay with us Sue,we may have help or advice soon.If you would like to read the latest blog from Lincslass,(Sue) a member (Tommyshortlegs ) may be able to find someone who can.. he has also posted an update from his blog in 2016.It's so lovely to see ,as I've just looked at the whole blog and photo's . Fingers crossed, we can resume normal service soon ! x

Don’t think I can be on all the time or I should say often, as I’m at work and my yoga and Zumba a few evenings a week….but, I’d rather be on here than watch tv! 😊
