It got so big, towering over other plants…blocking the light, so I decided to give it a good prune only four days ago.
I have got a habit of pruning my plants at anytime of the year when I feel they need it, and this one is no different. Already it has new growth coming on all over it. The heavy rain we have had today will help it tremendously too. I have done it before, it always comes back to its former glory next season.

You are one very brave lady Michaella I would never dare do that, but as you say it is growing well again, it obviously likes having its hair cut early. lol :O)

What a fantastic amount of blooms in the top photo Michaella! Not sure I could have pruned it that drastically ... but you will be rewarded later with more flowers. :o)

Have to say I work along the same lines, I've given three huge shrubs the Chelseachop, I was fedup of getting wet when putting the washing on the line, I also know from past experience that they'll bounce back,.....

A beautiful rose Michaella, don`t think I could have done such a drastic job but it looks as if there`s plenty of new shoots to reward you.

Thank you all very much, with all the rain we are having today, and according to the weatherman, it will be most of the day...it will soon be green again :)))

When they need it they need it! . I've not usually got time to wait until the books say to do things.
Great job and as you say, it's already putting on New growth so certainly no harm done.
