I bought 2.....

Well after a few drab days of rain, we had an afternoon yesterday of about 2 hours of sunshine so after, planting out the remainder of my Dainthus from a pot I started putting up some trellis for my climbing roses.
Well, today has been miserable from before I got up, the rain has not let up, and even when I took these photos the gloominess showed. Possibly the mood I was in didnt help as I had a trip out today…no where good… the dentists!!
Anyway 3/4 hour and a root canal later I treated myself (I deserved it) to 2 Clematis!!!
In a sale even thought they were £1.99 each to start withso they cost me £3.56 what a bargain. Well this is a very big deal for me as I have drooled over beautiful pictures on here of various Clematis and Sprtizhenry and Louise1 have both said I NEED to try them. So ladies I have done it.
scary stuff, their stems are so delicate this is what worries me. Anyway Ive been wandering around the front and rear garden in the rain deciding where best for them to go. So have decided here. I have a nice piece of fence which i can apply trellis too, its beside my daughters swing so doesnt get touched as you can tell by the grass, such a messy area but Im working my way round..
The clematis Ive chosen if you cant see the names on the picture are Rhapsody and Miss Bateman. They are way to young to do much this year but will hopefully start to do something exciting next year, which is definatly worth waiting for, maybe then Il be more confident with them.
In the mean time heres a few pics from a bedroom window of our rear garden sorry about the darkness its miserable out there still. The area behind the greenhouse is going to be an oriental patch instead of the veggies!!
sorry vegie lovers
anyways love to all im off for more pain killers

Well done for taking the plunge..lovely choice of clematis. They are quite small so could I suggest you grow them on for a while before planting in the ground...they will have a better chance of survival with a decent rootball.

WELL DONE!! I am so pleased that you found two Clematis...at such a bargain price, as well! They're not as delicate as they look, as we keep telling you. I do agree with Alice, though - grow them on and pot them up as well, until they are looking healthy and have plenty of growth before you plant them out.
You'll enjoy them next year!
'Miss Bateman' is a group 2, so she will only need a slight trim in the late winter/early spring each year.
'Rhapsody' is a group 3 Clematis, so it will need to be pruned hard each year.

Thanks for letting us see your garden Mookins. The pond is lovely and it sounds like you have plenty of plans for the rest. I'm with you, it's flowers all the way! Good luck with the clematis, I've just acquired a baby one and potted it on for a while too.

You don't need to apologise that you grow flowers, not veggies, Mookins - each to his/her own! LOL.

I was all up for the veggies and growing my own, but they just werent doing it for me. does that make sense?
hehehe sounds a bit rude

It makes complete sense! I only have a couple of tomato plants and cucumbers in the greenhouse - my flowers keep me happy!
I hope you didn't mind the little lecture on your new Clems, I hoped you might find it useful :-)
