What Have Mr & Mrs MG Been Up To in the Vegetable Garden This Week

On Wednesday we finally managed to assemble and erect – well sort of :) The 6 metre long polycloche David was given for Christmas…
It didn’t help that it was quite windy so we ended up having a fair tussle with the beast but – finally it was in position.
Okay I KNOW it is squint and because of the size and our wanting to treat the moon bed and the control bed the same way a section of the path is now getting nicely warmed up!
We also planted parsnips and broad beans in the control bed…
I did the parsnips, two varieties Tender and True and Student. Sixteen seeds of each – at least they are easy to handle.
Then David did the broad beans… again two varieties – Whitkeim Manita and Super Aquadice.
Preparing the furrow (both they and the parsnips needed to be planted 1/2 inch deep).
Then he carefully covered up the bean seeds
And tamped the ground back down.
We did no sowing in the moon bed as it was a descending node and no work should be carried out in the garden on that day if your are growing by the moon.

Thanks Sandra - yes I feel like a piece of overcooked pasta. Himself keeps suggesting we go for a walk but I'm just not up to it right now - the streaming nose and eyes are a pain. BUT looking on the positive side it is a cold not a chest infection!
