I have been making an extension on my concrete fence which I wrote a blog about . while I had the gate off and the corner of my room propped up I got to thinking that while its down I could make it better and learn something . I bought a little stick welder and after a bit of practise I kind of got the hang of it . I cut the top off of my old gate and ground it down smooth and welded the top back on just above the gate . I alse used some of the parts to make the arch over the gate . I was just going to make the wall but ive added to it . I hope you like it . take care by for now .

That looks great, Leigh, and you must be very satisfied to have acquired a new skill. The garden is looking fabulous. What a huge amount of work you've done. Good luck with the open day. ?

Gosh Leigh, is there anything you can't turn your hand to? Your gate is amazing. There's a different view down the garden from what I've seen before - no idea the concrete fence was as long as that. It looks fantastic and so unusual. Wish i could get to your open day - hope it all goes really well.

well done, this is brilliant. I learnt to weld when I was a teenager. My brother was a welder too and I well remember the flash and the state of his eyes afterwards. UV burns to the cornea. But he soon learnt to use a mask/goggles. They came in useful to look at the last eclipse.

ow cool seaburn I got a react to light mask with skulls on it for £22 lol . great idea for the eclipse . I think ill leave the instruments to people who can play them thanx very much sg x

Brilliant ! I used to be a welder until I hurt my eyes.
Quite enjoyed doing it.
Always use protective goggles, they are much better now.
