so heres a little insite excuse my spelling into the build

not forgetting stan the man my new edition i must be truley mad lol.

the footings and the legs first

i used the straw to hold the belly up till it set then used some more wire and put the straw and any other old rubbish inside to bulk it out.robin hood the owner of the land and husband of the woman having the elephant built for her came over about now when it looked as least like an elephant as it could.also he had never clapped eyes on me or it before at all.he couldnt of come at a worse time lol.he didnt say anything but then again he didnt have to realy his face spoke volumes lol.

at last there is a slight elephantish if theres such a word look about it lol

true sighns of an elly with the head going on at last.any possible doubts i had have gone now ish lol

not always ideal conditions lol

final touches couldnt help but climb on just once.in a lot of ways i liked it at this brown unfinished stage

finished at last

i guess sometimes a picture can speak a 1000 words.the lady whos looking blown away is carol the one who had the pressy made for her.the second older lady is grace the lady who asked me to do this magnificent beasty.i guess you know who the ugly bald one is lol.believe it or not and we only found out at the last minite we are all pisces honest which is quite mad.

was a great part of my life the whole experiance from start to finish and my faverite animal loved it and i hope you do.didnt do a blog as amy did a very good one.take care bye for now

As long as you can visualise the end result that's all that matters. I like the brown stage too,it looks as though he's been rolling in the mud to rid himself of parasites lol. Well done a 'mammoth' task :))

thank you so much im passionate about elephants .it must show as i vissited london zoo and the keeper let me in with the elephant and i felt so at one with this animal testing everything and i mean everything i had in my pockets with its nose.do you know an elephants closest reletive alive is called a rock hyrax which lives in rocky outcrops in africa,is fury and probably weighs no more than about 2lb in weight.i never felt in danger though you could feal the apserlute power and dexterity in that mighty bunch of mussels.amazing

aw poar little stan the lan or my other motor didnt even get a mention lol

10 Aug, 2009

not all scientist believe that NP sireniuns if ive spelt that correctly which are water creatures are supose to be the nearest to the elephant family but the rock hyrrax i think is close , like a throw off down the line so to speak, like i say some think it is and some dont, but lucky you getting so close to a real elephant

10 Aug, 2009

well theres 2 things about an elephant that blatently tell you they came out of the sea and rhino and hippo

Hi Leigh, Charlotte and myself have been looking at your magnificent elephant. Charlotte has started something like this .... not on this scale, lol but a stag's head. She's using chicken wire but can we ask please, what do you use to cover the wire - clay or cement, or some other potion. Thanks Leigh x

7 Jul, 2010

hello dawn . what you use is 2 sharp sand to 1 cement and a plastisiser to .youl need more than just chicken wire for strength like a thick fence wire . use some bent long nose pliers to pull the wire through like a surgeon stitching if you like .you have the consistancy so that if you make it into a ball and gently toss it in the air it doesnt crumble apart or squish flat ie it basicly keeps its shape . you can reconstistute it once or twice with a touch of water but thats it .if you want new cement to stick to old you give it a key bye scratching lines in the old before it sets . also keep the cement wet as long as possible . sunny days are a pain as it goes of to quick and cracks .you can gently wrap rags round it and polythene . personaly i dont leave it long between coats if i can help it. i hope this helped take care bye for now xx .
ps its all in the mixing , do that to much rather than to little .

7 Jul, 2010

Cheers Leigh for sharing your trade secrets, lol. I'll let you know how we get on. Take care. x
