We miss you Neil......for Madperth.

It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I must share with you and our fellow GoYers some tragic news.
On my return home from work tonight, I came through the side gate to be welcomed by Neil, my baby rhinoceros, whose existence you have doubted all along. As he looked up and saw me, he broke in to a trot and as he galloped across the lush, green grass toward me, he tripped…….over a blasted slug. Don’t they just get everywhere!
As he rolled over and over, I realised that something was afoot and I tried desperately to stop his perpetual and agonising movement as he hurtled toward me. Unfortunately, the speed of his rolls was too much for me to even hope to hamper and as he knocked in to me, I fell away into the conifers where, as I looked up and cried out, ‘NEEEEEEILLLL!’…………… WHOOOOOMP! He ended up in my pond.
At that point, he appeared to still be in with a chance but as he sank to the bottom, the sudden, harsh reality hit me…..I had lost my friend.
Jim the snail, Nod the dog and Fat Cat all looked on in shock and utter disbelief…..
In an ironic kind of way, you could say that for a brief, fleeting moment, I actually had some wildlife, that I so long for, in my pond but it is not enough to mask the pain I am so obviously feeling right now.
Neil has now gone to Rhino heaven and in honour of this little fella, I have posted the only pic I ever managed to get of him…..he was very camera shy.
I trust you will all respect my privacy at this obviously very difficult and heart-wrenching time. Thank you…..
R.I.P – Rhino Neil

At this difficult time for all concerned, it would be unfair of me to push the meerkats in to something they may not be happy to do. They are obviously in shock right now but the father has asked me to just print this statement:
'It is with the great sads thats my familees has the the heartburns - think he meant heartache! - over the loses of the big armour machines, Neil. When we is happees agains, we come to say heeloes to the GoYers.....SIMPLES!'
So you will meet them soon, I'm sure.
23 Aug, 2009
Ok, thank you.
My condolences on your sad loss!
23 Aug, 2009
How sad is that ??? Methinks you really should try something more in keeping with your surroundings,it could have been worse you know, imagine if you had landed in said pond as well !!!!!!!!.no water,no Neil,no more laughs !!!!!!!!
23 Aug, 2009
Thanks MP. Rhino Neil is looking down on you right now.
Lincs: Never thought of that. Think I will stick to more 'appropriate' wildlife going forward. Thanks!

My thoughts are with you all tonight :-(
Although, you really should have known that ponds, pets and kids don't mix - sermon over!!
Be comforted by the thought that dear Neil has reached his "Savannah" in the Highest, and is,probably, at this very moment, drinking from the Horn of Plenty - no doubt singing "I'm a Rhino Cowboy - Yee Hah!" Think of him as a "Diamond in the Sky" from this day forth - and stick to native pets in future!
:-) :-) :-)
23 Aug, 2009
That IS a comforting thought David, but he's a Rhino Neil, Not Neil Diamond! Sob!!! :~(((((((

Well, what can I say about poor Rhino Neil...? RIP Neil and Peace be with you... to Jim the Snail, Fat Cat and Nod the Dog...not to mention the Meercats, and your good self, LoL (though I realise this is no laughing matter...therefore I have just stuffed a sock into my mouth to try and stem the flow of inappropriate hilarity....)
23 Aug, 2009
Grief can sometimes have that effect Di!
23 Aug, 2009
It's okay CD.
MP is quite right, grief can effect us all in different ways. I will accept your laughter in the manner in whch it was intended. It's what Neil would have wanted...
23 Aug, 2009
LoL! I'll have to put another sock in it now...:)))
Night all...off to bed now...sleep tight x
23 Aug, 2009
'Rhi...no....I'll never, love this way again, but I'll keep holding on.......'
23 Aug, 2009
Good night Di! Dont be too upset now!
23 Aug, 2009
Dan, that's a very touching song, are you holding the wake already?
23 Aug, 2009
Just remeniscing.
Off to bed now so more a. sleep than a wake!!
Tatty bye!!
23 Aug, 2009
G'night!

23 Aug, 2009
Dear Di has just made me look out and play a CD by one of my fave artistes - Diana (rhinoce)Ross!
"Wasn't me who said that nothing good is gonna last forever!
And wasn't it me who said, "Let's just be glad for the time we had together?"
RIP Neil, "Sweet" Dreams, Bill&Co!

24 Aug, 2009
Thanks SB. I always try to look for the positive in any negatives and this time is no exception. You know we wished each other luck for last Friday's Euro lotto?
Well, we won...Honestly now. We are soooooo excited and I've been bursting to tell someone.
24 Aug, 2009
What, a tenner?
24 Aug, 2009
Deepest commiserations OB, when's the funeral or is it family and close friends only? We expect to see a pic of his headstone in due course. Well that's put paid to that lucrative business dream of selling rhino dung on the roadside by Wickes hasn't it? I'm sure you'll come up with some other venture from the deep recesses of that fantastic imagination of yours! Great blog, thanks for the laughs (sorry........just going to put my black armband on)
24 Aug, 2009
go on OB will you be giving up work, traveling the world, a big house in the country, orrrrr getting a take away with your winnings lol :o))
24 Aug, 2009
Lily2: Thank you for your kind comments at this difficult time. How ironic that he was indeed, a black rhino so he was in mourning before this fateful accident.
I'm thinking for my next venture, maybe Slug slipperes? For those people with slippery tiled or wooden floors in their homes.....stop them slipping! Could catch on.
I personally bought a pair of tortoiseshell shoes last week.......
...it took me 3 hours to walk out of the shop!! BOOM BOOM!
SB & MP: I'm afraid you are both wrong so HA!
Twas indeed a lifechanging amount and I would ask that all you Goyers please refrain from sending begging letters.
Total amount in bank account.....£5.60!! Well, it was a win, wasn't it?
Being the generous blokey I am, I actually put it towards a nice bouquet for Ali from the local Supermarket - very classy too! Thought it might cheer her up a little as she's been living with me the past 5 years!!
No comments from the cheap seats please:o)))))
24 Aug, 2009
nice one OB, was it lidl or aldi lol
24 Aug, 2009
Nah, it was the pound shop!!!!!!!!
24 Aug, 2009
No I don't believe Ob would be that cheap .... he probably got them from Asda and he still has £3:60 left :o))))
I almost did it on the national lottery last week .... I was only six numbers off.
24 Aug, 2009

It is with DEEP SORROW and REGRET that I have to pass my (our )condolences on to you and your family over the loss of little Neil, When I went out to tell our Pond Rhino Mossy he just went to bits (sob, blart)and hes been with us since the year dot when our ponds went in, standing guard over the little newts and frogs. It is so sad that Neil could not live long enough to see the pond full of life(choke). Try to remember though Dan that these little animal friends need to be able to skip playfully around in safety, a slug filled garden is no place for such a delicate (mwahhh sniff) and loving friend, get rid of the slugs if you seee any little paw prints in the mud by the "watering hole" in the future, for where one has turned up another may follow.
Now I must go and mourn for our dear old Mossy!!
I will post something in his memory when I am able, for all those who doubt us Dan....Our thoughts are with you!!!
Be Brave!! bye Little Neil, its not been a good year for Pond Rhinos....
25 Aug, 2009
Is this something to do with Neil Morrisey then? Still don't get it!
25 Aug, 2009
Rhino Neil!
25 Aug, 2009
Mookins: I don't know what you're talking about.....
I will maybe have to introduce the pink monkey when he starts as my 'Garden Hand' in the near future!!
I don't mean to be awful Mooks but when I came up and saw all these comments last night I cried. You have given me such a laugh but don't worry, I won't rub it in.....Now, let's all Neil and pray!
Indy: Your kind thoughts and understanding are much appreciated at this most difficult of times.
We are hoping to have a rememberance service as a funeral/burial may be somewhat difficult.....well I'm not fishing me hand in the pond to pull him out with all those mozzie larvae in there. Plus, think of the weight.
No, we shall hold a private service by the pondside as we listen to Celine Dion singing 'My heart will go on'
Thanks all.
25 Aug, 2009
LMAO!
25 Aug, 2009
Lol!
25 Aug, 2009
Nope MP........ it's my turn to be thick today (like yours with 'abominable')! It's Indys fault putting me off the scent with 'Mossy'. Give me time, it's early yet, I'll get there........hhmmmm
You haven't left him to rot in the pond OB!! ....Like a burial at sea I. suppose The pond must be overflowing.
Mookins - you always make us laugh, don't change!
Now......rhino Neil, rhino Neil, Rhino Neil......
25 Aug, 2009
Okay Lily......
He has a daughter called Tatum, once married to John Mcenroe????
LMAO!
25 Aug, 2009
Who the rhino? Are they in your garden too.....?
25 Aug, 2009
Blog posted for you now Dan,be brave!
25 Aug, 2009
LMAO!!!!!
pm to follow!
25 Aug, 2009
OK....been off to clean my teeth (always makes me think better!)....and .....I got it!!!!!!! GROAN. Found the PM after, thanksOB
I'll join you in the dumbo club Mookins - or is that just for elephants?
25 Aug, 2009
Lol!
Brilliant Lily!!
25 Aug, 2009
I'm very disappointed that you didn't dive in to save Neil. What sort of pet owner are you, for goodness sake, not to give him life jacket anyway? And I think you may have a contamination problem if he is still at the bottom of the pond!
30 Aug, 2009
LOL Gee
31 Aug, 2009
I quite agree Gee!
I dont think he should be allowed another pond rhino! And what has he done with the meerkats????????
31 Aug, 2009
Thats the question wheres the meercats then! what has happened to them are they alive and well ! have they run away for fear of falling in the pond , will we never hear Dan say Seemples again!
tune in same time same channel to find out the answers to these questions...
31 Aug, 2009
And more!
31 Aug, 2009
He's not answering M. do you think the meercats have done a runner?
2 Sep, 2009
Hmmm! He'll answer tomorrow! He's working long days just now!
Wouldnt blame them, after the sad demise of Rhino Neil!
2 Sep, 2009
Yeah, imagine having a job that keeps you away from looking after the wildlife in your garden...tsk tsk!
2 Sep, 2009
Terrible!
