Have been busy in the garden, because the sun has been shining. At last we have got a break in all that miserable dark low cloud. The sun has shone for a long time today and oh how it makes you want to get out there in the garden and work.
So I went out, cut out some more grass, made myself a new play area, and took some spring photographs hope you like them.
My new play area, I know I know it will blow down, but eh ho I am giving it a go. Have no room in the house and needed somewhere to put some seeds! I just had to have a go, I have pinned it down with good strong pegs and am crossing my fingers and my toes. lol.
Just love the colour of these Hellebores
Spring bulbs are coming out – it was quite amazing to see them open up as the sun came out – I hadn’t even noticed them before the sun shone and once it came out they were up and showing off their colours.
The last one looks misty, don’t know why because it isn’t it is quite bright and sunny and clear. Think the sun must have been in the camera lense. The wheelbarrow is full of chopped out grass – the bit of border where it came from is going to have some hemerocallis in it. They have been ordered and hopefully are on their way.

Your garden looks full of promise, you have some lovely trees by your garden.

My bulbs and other plants just don't open as early as yours Olive. Scotland is always a few weeks to a month behind. But, it has been a beautiful day here today, 12 degrees, which is good for us........I have been gardening!!

Probably some more tent pegs inside around the bottom of the frame would be a good idea Shirley, will try and do that tomorrow. Thanks for your comments.
Lulu it is always good to see the spring flowers coming on, the trees are all around the garden, they are a pain when they shed their leaves, but springtime when the catkins are out is lovely. We have an 80 acre wood around us on two sides, it shelters us from the cold easterlies in winter.
But one of the big drawbacks is that it limits the light for the garden, we do get sunshine in summer from about 10 o'clock onwards so not too big a problem for the garden.
Linda I know what you are saying about further north being that much later in the gardening calendar, but where Karensue is she seems to get some plants out much earlier than we do down here. Being on the coast does make such a huge difference for her garden. Hope you can get in your garden tomorrow, it does make a difference to being out there when the sun is shining. I know I didn't want to come indoors, but t.time beckoned and hungry mouths needed feeding. lol

Well, I don't know Mum , your hellebores are certainly ahead of mine. Some of your snowdrops look really big. The ones you sent me opened up for the first time today. I took a pic. will post it soon as the big computer is back. Seem to have recovered my lost files, but I have to go through hundreds and hundreds now and sort them out as engineer said there are multiple copies of loads of things....always plenty to do when you have a computer eh? lol. What a huge relief it was here too today. Not much sunshine at all, but higher and broken cloud and just a feeling of 'lightness' returning to the garden. I took a delivery from Crocus and one from Fothergills: Hemerocallis, Geums, and three tiny tubers of marsh orchids from Thomson and Morgan. I am always terribly disappointed with these seed companies' plants, I think they overcharge vastly. I shan't order from them again. £6.99 for a tiny tiny tuber with not even any compost around it, in a tiny plastic bag. tut tut! Rant over....!

ON the other hand....plants from Crocus were huge and the Geums could easily have been split in to 4! Great, quick service, low postal charges and beautiful plants! Well done Crocus!

I like the way you have set your garden out Olive, its like going in different rooms with all your walkways..
Sunny and warm here all day as well, housework was no-go except for mealtimes.
Your play area will be very helpful to you and its surprising how much one can grow in them, so have fun..
Lovely to see the flowers coming out, really cheers a body up.....

I am the same with seed companies Karen, poor value for money. Crocus is good and Woottens I like also. Have a look if you haven't already. Woottens list their plants so well, descriptive and useful advice on their site. May be a bit pricey with their delivery charges but good value plants.

No I haven't seen Wootens, thanks for the tip! :)

Thanks Linclass, your garden is similar to mine looking at your pictures.

Karen, I received a letter today from T & M re the 2 Clematis in GW mag. offer. They were to be sent in February, I know some Goyers have had theirs already, mine will now be delivered in April! Quote: "We sometimes find that a crop does not reach the required standards & therefore we are unable to fulfil order expectations. We would much prefer to keep your plants at our nursery & grow them on to ensure that these are nurtured & fully ready to be despatched to you." Hmmm ... think I've been forgotten ... lol!

Either that Shirley, or they ran out and had to sow some more seeds! When you get them post a pic so we can compare. I was pleased with mine for a freebie, but if I had paid more than £2 each for them in a GC I would not have been happy! They are healthy though, I'll say that for them!

Good to have your recommendation for Crocus again, Karen. Pleased you are getting started with your new arrivals too.
Good to read that you have been able to retrieve your photos...you must be so relieved. Good luck with sorting the duplicates!

Well, I haven't actually checked yet Wlass....the engineer may have just retrieved a whole lot of rubbish from deep within this laptop's memory! No, I'm sure they will be there. I shall face up to the task when I'm feeling a bit better!

I love your new 'play area' and such a fitting name for it! Would you be able to weight the base down with a couple of house bricks? Just a thought. Lovely to see some Spring colour after the long, long Winter. : o )
