Pics of the flowers in church Sunday 12th November

To the right (sorry about the blur):
The service was very moving and meaningful and inspiring. Sometimes things like this can seem to glorify war but this was hope for peace. Made a big difference.

Your church arrangements are always so beautiful Pamela.
We had chrysanthemums and poppies too but on a much smaller scale, being a little country chapel.
I noticed a copy of Singing the Faith - is your church Methodist? i'd assumed it was Anglican.
Eirlys I was saddened to hear that some people nowadays thing that poppies and parades glorify war. What a shame they have missed the point completely.

Yes it's a Methodist church I attend. The one before I moved home was Anglican and the one before that, and before that was Evangelical, and before that was Baptist, but really I'd prefer not to have denominations at all, but have come to think of them as like extensions from a root, like a family tree, and then you get different surnames and different family customs, but all rooted from the same origin that means everything.
I have a friend that I chat to in the park over the road from me, where there is a war memorial. She would love to see it disappear as she is one who thinks it ugly and glorifying violence. I think it doesn't help that it is surrounded by cannons. I don't particularly like those myself, as if they are something wonderful.
I am glad you like to see the church arrangements. I have been taking photos each week but haven't had time to add them to the church flowers blog yet.

The arrangements are beautiful. Someone has worked hard making them. Maybe some people don't notice them but I think they bring a nice feeling to a service :)
(not that I've been to one for many years unfortunately !)

The arrangements are beautiful, PA., a tribute to the desire for peace in our time.
I think today's children should be made aware of what sacrifices have been made in the past. I get really angry when I read that someone has desecrated a war memorial.
(The last image is so simple and so effective. )
