before and after

just thought i would add some photo’s of our garden before we started the work to turn it into a garden this year.
the photo’s below were taken in 2004 bearing in mind that we have no photo’s of how the garden looked after we renovated the inside of the house when we turned the garden into a building site (dumping all the rubble, carpets etc).
the first set of pictures are of the bottom of the garden where the only wild life we had was a sea gull, they also show the slope that we some how had to level out.
because of the slope towards the shed that became a swimming pool when it rained we removed the concrete base and replaced this with gravel to create a natural soak away.then came the retaining wall (sleepers) plus about 2 tonne of top soil to create the planting area.
we now moved up the garden away from the house,by removing the sheds and leveling out the rubble (although this is not in the pic)we decided to use sleepers and a fence to section it from the planting area.
sorry kids no more basketball…………….
the next set of pictures as us looking towards the top left of the garden as it was then and as it is now.( 4 months ago )
the next 3 pictures takes in the left hand side of the garden.the then, the now (4 months old) and as it looks now (september 09)we needed another planting area for all our spring bulbs.
the new bulb planting area ( below )
we then come to the patio area, that was a flat boring eyesore with only the water butt for a feature, we wanted to create a relaxing area to sit after a hard day in the garden,we did this by building planters around it and adding lights,
(see decking blog).
this is the finished look from the conservatory.
that concludes our then and now blog thankyou for reading …..ped and kaz x
kaz relaxing after a hard day.
