Diamond Jubilee Pageant

I know that this is a couple of weeks late (actually nearly three weeks late)… it’s mainly due to the fact that I needed to use some of OH’s pic’s which were on his company camera. He down loaded them for me last night.
Anyway on Sunday 3 June 2012 I’d booked a coach trip to take us to London to watch the Royal Flotilla on the River Thames.
It was a long day – we left home just after 7am and arrived back just after 7pm. The traffic was absolutely fine – however, the weather wasn’t…
We chose to sit near Lambeth Bridge along the Prince Albert Gardens which is almost opposite the Houses of Parliment
The crowds were gathering early. Check out Mr Union Jack! I saw him on the TV walking along The Mall 2 days later on Tuesday. He was wearing exactly the same outfit. Let’s face it he couldn’t be missed…
Then along came the Pearly Queen’s… Everyone wanted their photograph’s taken with them – Not sure about Mr U.J. though!
There was also a photo shoot for a Bassett Hound wearing a Union Jack bandana around his neck, along with Mr U.J. and a Policeman… I did feel very sorry for the dog.
Things start to happen now – We’ve only been here 5 hours 30 minutes…!!! Here’s The Royal Jubilee Bells
Next is The Gloriana – A stunning new hand built Barge costing One Million Pounds, and 94ft long. It was rowed by 18 oarsmen including Olympians Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent
My view was blocked a little by Mr Canon so when the Royal Barge of Chartwell came along I resulted to using my bino’s for the best views, (Yes I did see the Queen, she turned around to wave to me!) but OH continued taking pic’s. He didn’t do too badly considering the conditions…
The weather became drier… and here comes Her Majesty on board the Royal Barge Spirit of Chartwell
Now she’s gone… !!!
Then it poured hard… And you know the rest!

Yes, you are right we had some good laughs and met some very friendly people too. It's just a shame we weren't closer to take pictures. Earlier in the day Big Ben was in mist!!! lol

Thanks Pam - We did tape it, but I just haven't had the time to watch! Maybe one afternoon when it's cold, dark and raining :D That could end up being anytime soon!!!

What a day! such a shame the weather wasnt as good as we had all hoped for, but it looks like the great british spirit won through. Thanks for sharing your day with us on Goy. I'm sure you will remember it for years to come and being able to say 'I was there'! Its unlikely there will be another british monarch who reigns this long.

Hi Poppy, yes that was the reason why we decided to go - That and the fact that we wanted to see 1,000 boats of all types on the Thames. Despite the rain that was absolutely magnificent to watch!
