Wow, he's a beauty. You must have been very quiet to get him to stay still. He needs a good cream for that skin though. Great photo as always BB.

Confess i don't like toads, once as a child I stepped on one by mistake and the toad jumped away and I jumped screaming (it was night) and to this day i always look down to make sure I don't step on anything...lol But the picture is great!

I think that this is a lady toad. The males are a lot smaller, only about 2 and a half inches compared to the female of nearly up to four inches. SHe certainly looks very healthy. Toads eat a lot of pests in the garden. Toads lay a string of eggs that the female wraps around plants in the pond.

A fantastic pic BB. Your toad is probably in the water to lay eggs. I found another string a week ago and now I have another batch of tadpoles swimming in my pond, it is about the third or 4th batch this season. My garden is covered with millions of tiny toadlets. They are great for the garden as they eat LOTS of insects. I had a huge one in my classroom for7 years as a pet. The kids loved feeding it worms and crickets out of their hands, and learned a lot about toads.
Check out the pics of my bullrog. He is HUGE. Unfortunately, in addition to insects he snacks on my goldfish and his own kind.
