Did you put Jam in it Janey ... last thursday we had a cream tea in a little cafe courtyard , very pretty until the wasps descended we were surrounded , it was frightening ...... you had to be very careful not to eat them on the jam ............

10 Aug, 2009

Is it to feed them or to kill them ?

10 Aug, 2009

i think they die happy hywel, like the jam jar my nan use to leave by the door they got in but couldnt get out again

lol I remember doing that.

Oh, Amy, that's awful.......I put honey and water in it...the base is like a convex shape which goes up to a hole where the wasps fly in for their treats......they don't seem to be able to fly out though, I don't know why, there are a few in now, you can put jam or honey, anything sweet, it also stands on the table if you want. We went over to Beverley at the weekend and I got it from the Oxfam shop there......I've seen them at Garden Centres though. I bet there on Ebay too....:o)

Yes they're to kill them Hywel, but they die happy like San says...Lol!

Wouldnt fancy the job of cleaning it out Jane uggggggggg

Nice trap, we put apples in with water, when it goes mushy, the wasps love it and die very happy. Apparently apples works best, we tried all kinds of fruit. A tip from one of our newspaper gurus here in CDN. Yes it is a mess to clean out. A friend drank her cider & did not see one crawl in.....................guess what>>..........yup very chubby cheeked, I told her NOT to keep the bottle mouth open, did she listen................noooooooooo. I am paranoid about pop cans, beer, cider bottles in summer, just in case one sneaks in & then zap, gets kissed by one.

Wow...that's a terrible story Doon, it reminds me of Four Weddings and a Funeral, when Hugh Grant pics up a can from a table to have a swig and someone has popped a fag end in it..Lol! I'll try the apples and water.....
