Thank you. :-) Sbg sent me some scarlet Lychnis - they are too small to be in flower as yet, but they are planted to the left of the orange Crocosmia. I'm hoping for a bright splash of colour there next year!

I love late summer flowers and you've such a selection here Spritz! Beautiful! Is that Montbretia /Crocosmia to the left? This year mine have really flowered well, but the clumps are way too big for the border....looks like a good digging session will be on the cards......:o) Do you remember your daughter's Hebe.....well its come on a treat, and has had one or two white flowers!

WHITE?? It's supposed to be PURPLE, Janey! The ones I kept are! I can't imagine why that should be?? I shall ask the other people who got them, to see if they have white or purple flowers!

Yes, the clump of Montbretia (LOL - I call them that too!) was at least three times that size - I gritted my teeth and dug a whole lot out a few weeks ago, to make room for the scarlet Lychnis Seaburngirl sent me plus that new red Helenium I planted. They were very difficult to shift.

Oh - I must post a photo of that Kniphofia - it has one small flower! :-))

Crikey I'll have another look at the Hebe tomorrow I'm sure it was white....Lol..shall have to get some new specs....your Kniphofia has got one up on mine then...no flowers or buds as yet....:o(

Hi B. just a quick question, Its about your crocusmia's. How many did you plant there? and how long have they been there? oh and how do you grow more?
Whats the word I'm thinking of? like propergate? is that right? ? ? ?

They were there when we came, Ian - they spread like crazy! They propagate themselves, but you can give them a helping hand by digging up a clump and splitting them, then replanting.

You start off by buying a packet of corms (like bulbs...) and planting them either in late autumn, or in early spring. There are quite a lot of different ones, differing in height and colour. The tallest is that bright red one - 'Lucifer'.

We have ONE that we bought this year and I was just wondering how long it would take to get a 'drift' going.

How could you get ONE?? Was it a plant in a pot? If it has more than one stem. it must be several corms.

Hi Barbara, I bought it as you say in a pot. I have put a photo up with it in the front of the bed, just in front of the Clematis.

I'll have a look...count the stems - that'll give you an idea of how many corms there are!
