Not what I expected, but have grown to really like them, too. :-)

I like them too! Violas are such lovely little plants. :)

How come you haven't had any
1. Pecked by birds...
2. Chomped by snails...??
You must have a secret! Apart from that, I love them as well. :-))

Oh David these are so beautiful.....I love them...

Thank You!
Spritz, no secret, because I don't know the answer. We get plenty of birds, slugs and snails. Perhaps they don't like "chocolate"?

Nice colour David. I have just dug our pansies and violas out as they got rather straggly. Had them in since the springtime. They have done really well. I'm leaving the soil blank now ready for the winter pansies.

Lovely

Linda, they do seem to have done well this year, and you certainly got great value from your Spring ones! :-)

Got them from Focus.

There's a branch (also a Homebase) just 10mins walk from here. Will go and have a look. I really want to concentrate on the front doorstep and garden for Autumn/Winter, to brighten things up a bit. Thank You for the tip-off. :-)

Focus or Morrison's plants always seem to do well. They just need a little TLC when you buy them to bring them on a bit. I expect the pansies and violas will start appearing in the shops sometime in September.

Pansies & Violas & Primroses & Polyanthus have all been on sale here during all of August. Spring bulbs have also been on sale since the beginning of the month!!!

Linda, Morrisons have an excellent range of plants (last year they finally came to Scotland, because they bought over the former "Safeway" chain).
We have one here, and I saw some very lovely, non-Supermarket" type plants - which, of course, sold out on day one!
Balcony, don't I know it!!!! The plant retail world has become as mad as the Christmas retail one. "Well, it's late summer, time to market "Spring"" and, in some cases, even next Summer! Far too early, lol!
I'm really glad that myself and the kids garden to a "theme". We can admire and walk on for, if the name don't fit, it doesn't go in the trolley/basket! Our one and only "rule". Having said this, have not long come home from a visit to a branch of a (mainly Scottish, but with some branches down South) garden centre chain, Dobbies, with bulbs of tulip "Candy Prince" as well as 3 live coldwater fancy goldfish for the aquarium. What variety are the fish? Oranda var. "Chocolate" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS. We already have Orandas in other colours.

The supermarket chain, T, bought them up last year I think. I expected to see a lot more plants this year in their shop here but, apart from a few weeks in spring, I haven't seen much difference. Not that I've been able to get along there much in the last couple of moths due to my sciatica.

Only 12 "Dobbies" garden centres in England now, Balcony. Nearest one to you is probably Milton Keynes :-(
Our "local" Dobbies Garden Centre is actually playing host to our County Flower Show next month - it's that big! Hope you get some relief from that sciatica soon, for a while, by the way!

The pain has gone now & I only feel tingling & numbness in my foot. Thanks for your well wishes. There are a couple of garden centres not far from here. I went to the closest one back in January, the only time I've ever been there, because someone said they wanted people. I only went there for an application form but they told me I would have to download it for myself from their website, fill it in & send it to them. I did all of that but, apart from an acknowledgement card, never heard anything more from them! The other garden centre I still haven't visited.
