James has gone and this is where we're at at the moment. Area all cleared ready for slabs. It's actually a bigger space than I thought. It was hard to tell with all the planting.

Oh Wow!! Looks brilliant Keithsmum...and like you say, so much bigger! Well done James...can't wait to see the finished result :)

Hello Paul, tomorrow should see it finished. I'm very impressed with James. The fence has actually been there since May but I've just never had the chance to get it painted yet. It's going to be green. The last fence was green and a few years ago I was freshening the paint and was beavering away tucked in the furthest away corner, twisted in at an odd angle. Unfortunately, just as I stood up to straighten myself out, a woman walking a dog passed by and almost had a heart attach when I popped up out the shrubbery. Hopefully with this makeover, the fence will be easier to maintain.

Thanks Di, James is turning out to be a very good find.
I've gone through all the three estimates, guys who turn up then don't quote and guys who don't even turn up at all, in the past. I just couldn't be bothered with that this time round.
He replies to all the emails, his quote was reasonable, he arrived bang on 9am and worked right through to 4pm with only a short break for lunch - everyone should have access to a James!

Looks Great Irene like the edging around the planted area, look forward to seeing the finished project and James sounds like a good find!

Thanks Pansypotter - the edging was replaced at the same time as the fence earlier in the year, so more painting to do. I'll post a pic tomorrow night and then it'll be another week before I can get to the garden centre to do some serious shopping and start to fill in all the gaps.

Hello Di, It's a pity you didn't live nearer as I can certainly recommend him.
Do you see what I mean about drains and manhole covers? I just noticed how obvious they were.
30 Sep, 2009
Oh yes, I see now you've pointed them out. Will James pave round them? You can always stand a pot or something on the top....

He's going to work the manhole in with the slabbing and lower the drain as it sits a bit higher. I've got a birdbath that could sit there or I might just buy something new!

Nearly there. It looks very neat and well organised Kiethsmum! And I like the picket fence(Will it be painted?- I love white painted picket fences.)
