These dumb canes are growing at Foster's Botanical Garden in

It's amazing how different they look in the ground! I have some in my front yard also...they just seem to look so much better in the ground outside (as long as they are in
shade here).

Luminous! Guess when cats eat them, it numbs their throats for a while, so dumb cane is a good deterrent as well as sometimes used as a gargle for hoarse throats.

I've never heard of cats eating them...however, I do know the plants can numb the vocal cords, hence, the name dumb cane.
I have never hear of a gargle for horses either...it sounds cruel...if it affects them like humans or cats.

As house plants (how we get them over here) i really dislike these (as all other houseplants) but seen here they look wonderful, really lovely :-))
