There's still a lot of lawn - I could dig another island bed....couldn't I??

Oh yes you could .......although it does look lovely as it is ,but another bed would mean more trips to the GC.....lol

It's the perfect spot for another island in that sea of green!

I know what my husband would say, though - and it wouldn't be very positive! Shame.....:-((

Now forgive me for speaking out of turn here but when have women ever listened to us men about such things?

20 Oct, 2009

I agree with him to a certain extent - another island would spoil the open view across the lawn from the Garden room. SIGH - I just enjoyed making my island, though! I'd love to create another one!

20 Oct, 2009

It looks lovely and still plenty of colour

20 Oct, 2009

Perhaps your husband wouldn't notice if you made it a slightly bigger island :)

20 Oct, 2009

LOL
:-))))

I think we've tried the "less lawn for you to care for dear" route but it's worth another try surely?

21 Oct, 2009

Nope - he only agreed to island no.1 if it was at the far end of the lawn! He also thinks that I've got enough beds to care for...:-((

I might try again though........................................................

well another bed would be lovely of course barbara, but the lawn looks beautifull and complements the beds you have, also and i dont like saying this but eventually it may become to much doing all the beds, think hubby may be right, dont take to much on, unless you can get a gradener to help in the future, the balls in your court barbara, :o))

21 Oct, 2009

You sound like my husband, Sandra! LOL.

21 Oct, 2009

lol barbara, oh im sorry i dont mean to , just thinking of you :o)

21 Oct, 2009

Don't be sorry! What have you said to be sorry about? That's his argument, as well - for the future. He knows I could handle it at the moment. :-))

21 Oct, 2009

well do what you think and are happy with, enjoy today we dont know what tomorrow brings do we barbara, you could get a live in toyboy gardener lol

21 Oct, 2009

More? You might have to open for a whole week next year, lol! :-)

21 Oct, 2009

It is exciting, watching new beds coming into life (while we are sat at our PC's) It is down to you to put in the extra work involved in creating it in the first place and of course the upkeep after, ............ Oh go on, ....... Do it! .......... You know you want to. Lol :~)))))

21 Oct, 2009

NOPE!! I am not having an argument with him - peace and harmony reign in our house...usually!

David - not on your nelly! Two days' worth was quite enough!

21 Oct, 2009

LOL!

What I might try, in your "shoes", is create another bed, saying that it is a "nursery" or temporary space in which to keep plants when you are re-arranging, or "re-mingling". In a very short time, and without attracting any real notice, you will have created a whole new permanent display!!

(not that I'm devious, or anything like it) :-)

21 Oct, 2009

Don't you think it might be a bit obvious, David? You've been here - you've seen the green expanses....!!!!

21 Oct, 2009

Think of the extra 'edging' you would have to do - that'll make you feel better about not doing it.

21 Oct, 2009

Looks lovely as it is Spritz, a new bed might just over egg it, the other one will know doubt get larger in time ( not that you mean it to) but plants do have this nasty habit of growing.....don't they?

21 Oct, 2009

Well, normally I'd agree - but it can't spread to the back, as the space was measured to get the mower through, and as you know, we marked out the shape carefully. I shall have to be more ruthless next year with the 'spillers-overs'.

21 Oct, 2009

Well you could always cut it by hand lol

21 Oct, 2009

What - MORE crawling round on my hands and knees? Oh, thanks, Dd!!! LOL.

21 Oct, 2009

think how fit you will be though ..........

24 Oct, 2009

LOL. I've worn holes in my jeans' knees already!

25 Oct, 2009

Don't create another island bed. Create a stopping off point between the top border and your island bed LoL.
It's a long way to walk and you need to take a rest. The fact that there are plants in your stopping off point is irrelevant

25 Oct, 2009

LOL!!!

25 Oct, 2009

You have a very large garden to maintain. YOu certainly keep it lovely with plenty of colour and variety of plants and shrubs.

28 Oct, 2009

Thanks! I'm off out in a moment again - to clear leaves off the beds.

28 Oct, 2009

the leaves seem to be falling all at once this year.

28 Oct, 2009

Not in my garden, unfortunately, Linda! We have three very tall poplar trees at the farm side, and those are the ones that shed leaves onto the shady border. I've been uncovering the poor buried plants, but I shall have to do it again, probably next week. Then the ash trees will start shedding their leaves! It takes me ages to rake leaves up. One big disadvantage of having trees!

Husband helps with the lawn mower once I've raked.

28 Oct, 2009

I think A lovely island bed would look delightful right in the middle of all that grass! Lol

28 Oct, 2009

What! More beds to clear the leaves off? Haha. Nice try.

29 Oct, 2009

I can try Lol ;~))

29 Oct, 2009

You are very trying, as they say, Ian! LOL.
