I made this out of two water tanks. I cut the top off the bottom one and filled it with soil and then placed the top one .......... errrrr on top!

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
Gilli I've just braved the elements to go and measure it and the bottom one is 24" (61cm) by 16" (41 cm) and the top one is 16" (41cm) by 12" (30cm) (all measurments are approx. and the management can not be held responsible for any errors there-in!)
Pip and B. The ball cock will be put to good use in another project that you will have to wait for. (once I've come up with one!!!!!)
David, Dohhhhh! ;~))
Cheers Hatter and Sue. :~))

Great idea Ian.........

Thanks Holly. :~))

Clever idea, Ian. You could always cut the ballcock in half and fill it with bird food (using Clarice's recipe) !!
14 Nov, 2009
Wow.....thanks for braving the gale for me Ian....aproximate measurement would have been just fine. :o)

14 Nov, 2009
Gilli !!! You wicked woman ! lol ;~))

Hi SBG, I had some Oxalis, Ixia, Ranunculus and Californian poppy! in pots that I had got cheap and was trying to see if they would grow, so they were handy and put to good use. Lol
I don't know what they will look like next year but I can always change them around. I thought strawberries would look good in there?
14 Nov, 2009
oh yes a good planter for strawberries. i thought that was an oxalis :o)
nice.

B, have you had 'vintage' Cider ?
Someone gave me a bottle as a gift a few years ago and .......... oooh, it was just like Champagne :-)))
Veeery nice !
(I loathe the usual Cider stuff)
15 Nov, 2009
I always thought Guiness and cider was a black velvet?
15 Nov, 2009
No, I haven't, Louise....I just don't like the usual cider, and I've tried 'proper' scrumpy ( Somerset ) too....yuk! I think I prefer apples in a pie, to be honest!!!!
;-)
15 Nov, 2009
Not a bad place to put them! I just like eating them. Lol
15 Nov, 2009
Yep, I think you're right, Digs...a Black and Tan is Bitter and Mild, half and half....or is it??? I can't say I've ever drunk any of these concoctions....but there's a first time for everything!
;-)

I think a black and tan is stout and bitter? but I could be wrong!
15 Nov, 2009
Gracious! All those mixtures! Makes me glad I don't drink! LOL.
Good idea, there, Ian. Don't forget where the Oxalis are - put a little marker in, as they'll disappear soon, and they pop up really late in the spring, when you think you've lost them! :-))
16 Nov, 2009
Thanks for the advice Spritz. I just put them in because they were to hand! ;~))
16 Nov, 2009
Did you get any flowers on them this year?
16 Nov, 2009
No unfortunatly not this year as I was very late in putting them in!
16 Nov, 2009
good idea ian. :o)
18 Nov, 2009
Thanks San. I like recycling just about everything and anything if I think it will work!
18 Nov, 2009
Ian, like the recycling! I especially like unusual containers, and oxalis? One of my favorite happy little plants; they pop up everywhere around here. Hope to see some blooms on yours... Are they purple?
20 Nov, 2009
I've no idea, to be honest Hmhb! They have been identified as 'Iron cross' if this helps?
Can I ask you a question? You see I have a thing about usernames and how people chose them (See my blog about them!) and I was just wondering what yours meens and how you came by it? If it's a personal thing I'll understand if you don't want to share, no problems! :~))
