I have seen one only once at my pond - early morning he didnt get any fish though and never seen again.

Such elegant birds until they take off - grand shot, Arlene. We lost all our fish too and only saw him twice (I don't get up early enough).

They are noisy...We call them Gronks for the noise they make when taking off..lol

Just seen your picture of the Heron, our house was built on ground inhabited by Herons, we used to see lots of them a few years ago, they would sit on the fences but haven't seen one for some time now. Lovely birds.

Herons and Sparrowhawks.....what variety. Can't really blame the heron for raiding local ponds it's an easy catch isn't it.
