got home from work and awfull weather. a quick tidy up and noticed the bannanas going off so decided to make a bannana loaf, they all love that, always add another ingrediant, sometimes apple, or sultanas, sometimes walnuts, today blueberrys, it smells great, anyone like a slice ? :o)) tea or coffee , recepe below.
4oz butter
6oz caster sugar
8oz sr flour
2 eggs
2-3 bannanas
heat oven at180c
1, mash bannanas in a bowl seperate
2.cream butter, sugar and add eggs in mixer bowl
i do all this in my kenwood mixer
3,then mix in bannanas
4,add flour and additional fruits if wanted,
turnout into greased loaf tin
cook for 40mins
then lower heat to 150c for another 20 mins
all done

Many Thanks, Sandra, for letting me know that it's SR flour. Many thanks, Amy, for asking, as I had decided it was plain. Cannot comment on the X Factor, as I don't watch TV, but just might switch on and have it in the background tonight, out of curiosity, lol! :-))

i hate that jungle program to david, but was glad to see the terrable twins out in xfactor woohooo
22 Nov, 2009
Looks lovely, but i dont like bananas, but will keep recipe. Admit the twins was terrible, but dont think they should have been bood( if i spelt it right) as they are only young kids, think they will do well in kiddies programmes.
23 Nov, 2009
yes your right i felt sorry for them with the crowd, they are young and were enjoying themselves, i think they will do ok after this though, like you say on kids programs carol :o))
23 Nov, 2009

23 Nov, 2009
thats the trouble potty.. we savour while the men have to eat it all as soon as possible lol, sorry you didnt get here for a slice, i`ll have to make another :o)
23 Nov, 2009
This pic's only just popped up on my home page - I like bananas when they're slightly underripe, but don't like them cooked - does this cake have that peculiar cooked banana taste, or are they not noticeable as an ingredient? (You're looking at someone who can't even stand bananas and custard...)
27 Nov, 2009
i dont think its a strong bannana taste but its there, baz cant taste anyway lol, its a mild taste, but if you dont like bannanas then you may feel differant, i use 3 small ones in this bamboo,:o))
27 Nov, 2009
I might just have to try it then, but how big is that loaf tin you're using? From the pic, it looks larger than the one I have, not sure it'll fit in mine
27 Nov, 2009
not that big bamboo, just over 8inch by just over 4inch within the edges, so only small really, if you dont like it pass it to a neighbour, or give it the birds they will love it lol
27 Nov, 2009
I'll make it for when my son's here and my ex husband - they'll eat it with gusto, I imagine!
27 Nov, 2009
there you go then and you can try a piece, it wont be wasted, good luck :o)
27 Nov, 2009
Sandy .. I've just taken mine out of the oven , it looks terrific , can't wait for it to cool a little bit , I'll let you know what it is like later .. :o)
I've measured my tin it's 91/2 x 4 . I measured it with water it holds just under 3 pints ....
It smells delish..............
27 Nov, 2009
thats great amy, glad you made it, david made it to last week and really enjoyed it :o)) so hope you do to :o))
27 Nov, 2009
We've had a nice thick slice Sandra .. it is really good , tasty , I put some walnuts in and you know those apricots in bags ready for eating , I cut some of those up into small pieces and put those in as well , I like it ,it's good , thanks a lot for the recipe , we will deff. be having it more often .. :o)
27 Nov, 2009

27 Nov, 2009

29 Nov, 2009
thanx dotty it is very tastey, i ate all my callories all in an hour with this lol but what the hell heheh :o))
29 Nov, 2009
Oh calories, tell me about it - whenever I do that (and I do it often, greedy pig, me) I just don't have any dinner to compensate. No wonder my cholesterol's so high...
29 Nov, 2009
We've just made our second one! Put blueberries in the first, sultanas in the second - we preferred the berries. Many Thanks! :-))
29 Nov, 2009
What does everyone think about having a recipe section on the site?
29 Nov, 2009
I think there is one already Bamboo? Sure I've seen one somewhere....:)
29 Nov, 2009
Well I just checked at the bottom of the page under R, and generally, but can't find one - I've written to the Site Gods anyway - I'm sure they'll tell me if there is one already.
29 Nov, 2009
Found it Bamboo...under "R", as "Recipes from the garden..."
29 Nov, 2009

29 Nov, 2009
I have some frozen Blueberries from the garden, I will be trying them in the next one ........ I'm sure we will all have our own favourite .. :o) ..
I wonder what a handful of coconut would be like with the banana , theres so many combinations to try :o)
29 Nov, 2009
love coconut to amy, like you say we can add what we like, all trial and error :o)
29 Nov, 2009
There is a page for recipes, folks. I just took this on, so would like you let me know whenever you find one on GOY, or, add some for it (best if the recipes have inngredients which can come from our gardens). Yes, will try walnuts, Sandra, which was the original recipe I was given years ago, and lost. :-))
29 Nov, 2009

14 Sep, 2010

15 Sep, 2010
Hi San, have just found this yummy recipe and popped it into my faves. until the bananas go brown !! Cheers.
27 Dec, 2010
I made one and it was lovely. The only problem is that we eat so many bananas here that they don't have time to over ripen:-( i'll just have to buy more, and the skins are, I believe, good in the compost. I always bury banana skins when planting a rose:-))
28 Dec, 2010
Maybe keep a few bananas especially for making a cake, Ba. good idea? I have just composted a bunch of bananas before I saw this recipe ! :~)
28 Dec, 2010
San, which Kenwood have you got, it looks a nice neat one and my daughter has requested one for her birthday (September!!!) Lol.
28 Dec, 2010
thanx Grandmage i love this cake, i get over ripe bannanas from veg shop, they sometimes have them in the back,i love bannanas and good for garden i agree bornagain,
the kenwood is a basic one but enough for me, has a couple of chopping parts, a whisk and jug attachment for soups etc to, its wasnt expensive, just says kenwood on machine and thats all i know, sorry.hope you had good xmas and looking forward to newyear ;o)
28 Dec, 2010
Thank you San. I will investigate the website and see what I can find. Christmas is over (phew) now and that brings spring even nearer, yipee. not long now (well I like to convince myself!) Have a Happy hogmanay !
28 Dec, 2010
